Crystal Dynamics' PR Shuts Down Questions About Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis' Generative AI Use

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was one of the many games showcased at Summer Game Fest to come with a generative AI disclaimer on Steam. As per the disclaimer, generative AI was used in "early exploration" and "temporary development content", with developer Crystal Dynamics promising that everything in the final game will be made or "refined" by humans.

That did little to reassure fans, since the wording doesn't rule out edited AI assets still being used in-game. So, it's no surprise to see that a lead developer was questioned about this during an interview - only to be cut off by his own PR before he could get into any more detail.

The question surrounding Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis' use of generative AI was put to the game's experience director, Jeff Adams, by Game Informer. Here, Game Informer got Adams to explain how AI assets were used.
