Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders are finally here, and the news has had a bit of a mixed reaction. Of course, you have people thrilled that they can finally lock in their purchase of a game they've waited over a decade for, but the reveal that several in-game cosmetic stores are locked behind the game's Ultimate Edition has dampened the mood quite a bit, as has the lack of a disc inside the game's physical box.
In case you've missed it, the retail version of GTA 6 won't contain a standard disc, but will instead simply contain a code for a digital download. There have been instances of physical games requiring downloads, and Nintendo's whole Game Key Card system, but at least they had actual discs inside. GTA 6 doesn't even pretend the physical you've bought is physical at all.
You're essentially buying a plastic box, as Rockstar wants to have its cake and eat it by having a retail presence without the manufacturing costs of physical discs. Understandably, it's upsetting quite a few folks, a lot of whom are now just not bothering with the game entirely, and even some video game retailers are telling Rockstar not...
