Phantom Blade Zero and Black Myth: Wukong are the two biggest games to come out of China. Wukong reached a staggering 20 million sales in its first month and hit 30 million earlier this year, while Phantom Blade Zero sold four million copies in just 72 hours, becoming the best-reviewed Chinese game in the process.
It was only a matter of time, then, before the two worlds collided—officially or unofficially. It just so happens to be the latter, as one enterprising player has added Black Myth: Wukong's protagonist, the legendary Sun Wukong, into Phantom Blade Zero.
Sun Wukong is the protagonist of Journey to the West, the novel that inspired the tale and adventure in Black Myth: Wukong. It's one of the most culturally significant stories to ever emerge from China and is a mandatory part of the country's educational curriculum. This is a core reason as to why the game performed so well in its homeland.
With the character so beloved, and Black Myth: Wukong and Phantom Blade Zero sharing similar styles, a mod implanting the former into the latter was inevitable. And it happened within a week of the launch of S-Game's title.
