Silent Hill: Downpour Datamine Reveals Scrapped Co-op Mode

It seems that Konami’s 2012 entry in the Silent Hill series, Silent Hill: Downpour, originally planned to include co-op multiplayer and other unique features, which didn’t make it into the final release.

This discovery was brought to light by dataminers, as reported by Game Rant. As the Silent Hill series is seeing renewed interest with upcoming titles, many fans are revisiting older games in the franchise.

The breakthrough came after Silent Hill: Downpour’ssource code was leaked, allowing dataminers to comb through the game’s files. AestheticGamer1 on X/Twitter shared that several features, including multiplayer, were removed during development.

There is speculation that some of these multiplayer elements may have been shifted to Silent Hill: Book of Memories, which was also released in 2012.

Aside from multiplayer, there were plans to include a psychological profile, akin to the one seen in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Additionally, Silent Hill: Downpour had intended for the character Anne to be playable, which would have been interesting to see.
