Astro Bot is absolutely jam-packed with cameos. Out of the 300 bots you can rescue, a whopping 160 of them are dressed up as characters from other PlayStation titles, ranging from the modern greats like God of War, Horizon, and Uncharted, to the more obscure and forgotten classics such as Sly Cooper, Ape Escape, Gravity Rush, and Alundra.
Astro Bot is the GOTY front runner, but we should enjoy games for ourselves, not worry about awards all the time.
Understandably, the discovery of characters from these lesser known titles has inspired many to replay some of the classic games from PlayStation's celebrated history. In that sense, Astro Bot has accomplished one of the main things that director Nicolas Doucet was hopeful for before the game was released, but he also hopes that it will inspire new gamers to try out PlayStation's classic titles for the first time.
