Flappy Bird is coming back next year, with a surprise re-release announced earlier this week. However, confirming initial suspicions, the game's original creator has revealed that he has nothing to do with this re-release.
Dong Nguyen, who developed and released Flappy Bird back in 2013, has now distanced himself from this re-release. As spotted by VGC, Nguyen says that he has no relation to this game, and that he "did not sell anything".
Nguyen adds that he doesn't "support crypto". This is in reference to the fact that the boss of the company behind the re-release, Flappy Bird Founation, is also the head of the crypto firm 1208 Productions.
This is Nguyen's first Twitter post since 2017, as the developer seems eager to distance himself from this new version of Flappy Bird. This is unsurprising, as Nguyen himself made the decision to delist Flappy Bird back in 2014, after he became disillusioned with the game and its sudden success.
