Nobuo Uematsu won't be retiring from video game music after the release of Fantasian Neo Dimension. A video released by Fantasian's English language account led people to believe this was the case, as Uematsu is translated as saying "This is my final project as a composer of video game music."
However, the legendary composer, best known for his extensive work on the Final Fantasy series, simply meant that he doesn't want to compose entire soundtracks anymore. Uematsu expressed a similar sentiment following the release of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, saying that he "lacks the physical and mental strength" to keep composing entire soundtracks as the process takes years of concentration for every game.
In a subsequent statement posted on X, Uematsu clarified that he was not retiring. "Wait, wait, wait! Everybody calm down!
