Mass Effect 5 Will "Maintain The Mature Tone Of The Original Trilogy"

A big concern surrounding Dragon Age: The Veilguard ahead of its Halloween launch is how much the tone appears to have changed compared to past games, especially in liue of its infamous CG trailer (although, the original games were never that consistent anyway).

Concerns that a similar shift will happen to BioWare sister series Mass Effect ahead of its own hotly-anticipated sequel have also begun to bubble. So much so that lead developer Michael Gamble took to Twitter to quell these worries, writing that it "will maintain the mature tone of the original trilogy".

How you bring a sci-fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs...and has to have different kinds of love.

Unlike Dragon Age, the first three Mass Effect games followed the same protagonist, Shepard. This threaded the trilogy into one cohesive narrative, which also meant a more nailed-down tone. A fourth game did launch in 2017 called Andromeda, but it was disconnected from Shepard's story and widely regarded as the worst of the series. But it looks like we're going back to roots with the next entry.
