The CEO of Grove Street Games, Thomas Williamson, has reacted to the news that Rockstar Games removed the developer from the introductory splash screens of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition.
Considering the fact that GTA is without a doubt the biggest series in gaming, you'd think that a remaster of the classic games that started it all would be a surefire slam dunk. That's what we all thought when the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition was first announced, but that couldn't have been further from the truth.
Games need to wind down in scope, not blow up to such unbelievable levels as to turn singleplayer games into ever-expanding live-service worlds.
Weird plastic graphics, bugs, glitches, text ruined by AI upscaling, and the strange removal of fog are just a few of the many problems that the GTA Trilogy faced when it released three years ago, and it seemed like it might never be fixed. That thankfully isn't the case, though, as Rockstar updated it earlier this week and patched up a lot of those issues, while also adding in new features.
