Actions have consequences, and this premise is addressed with intense focus in The Last of Us Part II. Set in a lawless land where threats lurk around every corner, the fight for survival gives way to a brutal journey of revenge that often makes us question what we are witnessing. Killing an infected means stopping the movement of a body completely taken over by the fungus, but taking a human life puts an end to the existence of someone who had ties to others. The plot handles this masterfully, in a way that only video games can achieve.

Having established itself as a company specialized in producing open-world games, Ubisoft reached its peak with Assassin's Creed Shadows. Beyond the beauty of the environments, the way they shift with the changing seasons is truly impressive, even affecting gameplay. There is still a degree of repetition in some secondary objectives, but there has been a better utilization of the activities scattered across the map.

This time taking control of two heroes, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 puts us in a dynamic adventure, with powerful antagonists and protagonists who face the challenge of balancing everyday life with the mission of protecting the city from any type of threat. The story progresses at a satisfying pace and features great plot twists. In terms of gameplay, Insomniac Games sought to refine what already worked well, resulting in a wider variety of options for players to decide when and how to use.

In its superhero debut, Insomniac Games delivered a title that lives up to the legacy the studio has built over the years. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered surprises with its high-caliber narrative and fluid, engaging gameplay. Although we are in control of someone with extraordinary abilities, the game frequently makes a point of exploring Peter Parker's more human side, which I really enjoyed.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is one of the few games that, despite having noticeable flaws, keeps its grand scale and ambition intact. The dismal way the story mode is told and the limited variety of stages are issues easily overshadowed by an exceptionally fun combat system and a massive roster of characters that, with high technical polish, keeps the gameplay varied and exciting even during its weak points.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings together practically all the elements that established the franchise, but stumbles in what is perhaps the most critical one: the story. In every title released so far, we have always had well-crafted plots and characters; however, that same standard is not seen here. Don't get me wrong: the narrative is not entirely bad, but there were points that could have been further developed and handled with greater care. Fortunately, that wasn't the case with Max: the character, who is the main reason for the game's existence, is explore satisfactorily throughout the entire adventure.

What charmed me most about Until Dawn was the clever way the game conveys its story to the player; nothing we come across is there by chance. The plot itself is engaging, and knowing that a simple choice can determine a character's fate makes us reflect on the decisions we need to make, even if under certain circumstances that has to be done in a matter of seconds. Featuring straightforward gameplay, closely resembling an interactive movie, the remake is a great entry point for those unfamiliar with the game, especially PC players, since the original version is only available on PlayStation consoles.

Aesthetically, Slipstream is gorgeous and cohesive; the nod to late '80s and early '90s racing games feels nostalgic, yet far more detailed. In its core modes, the game shines through its challenge, while also offering options for more casual players. It's a shame that the Switch version suffers from technical issues.

God of War Ragnarök features a rich and dynamic narrative that deepens the backstory of familiar characters while introducing us to extremely charismatic new ones. With a balanced difficulty level, the already excellent gameplay has been refined to offer a wider array of options for the player, all set within varied, highly detailed environments. After completing the adventure, it becomes clear that Santa Monica Studio knows exactly what it's doing with the franchise, once again delivering a game that stands well above average.

Giving a fresh perspective to a character whose traits were already firmly established, God of War delivers an engaging, well-crafted story with just the right amount of emotional weight. Even with several changes, the feeling I got was that the game managed to retain the essence of its predecessors: the brutality, exploration, puzzles, chests, and breakable pots are all still present, even though many of these elements have been given new meaning.

Star Wars Outlaws features a vast and detailed galaxy, but struggles with the execution of its narrative and mechanics. Kay Vess's journey starts off slow, but once it picks up steam, it offers a truly enjoyable open world with diverse side activities and an innovative, highly functional skill system. The reputation system adds weight to every activity undertaken, ensuring that the player's actions have consequences across the planets, even if that isn't reflected in the outcome of the main quests.

A desire for revenge, broken traditions, bloodshed, and heavy loss: it is amidst these struggles that Jin Sakai abandons the samurai code to become the ghost of Tsushima, a warrior fighting for the liberation of his people. Set in feudal Japan, Ghost of Tsushima's narrative kept me hooked from start to finish with its many nuances, charismatic characters, and surprising twists. The authentic atmosphere crafted by Sucker Punch and the excellent combat system make the experience all the more rewarding.

Sand Land isn't content with being a mere adaptation of Akira Toriyama's manga: by expanding the work beyond the page, the title delivers fascinating new storylines, charismatic characters, and incredible vehicles, guaranteeing an exceptionally immersive experience for fans and a great entry point for newcomers to this captivating universe. Ambitious. There is no word that better defines Starfield. Despite being an RPG tailored for a broad audience, the game wasn't afraid to lean into different mechanics and double down on role-playing elements that had been lost in previous Bethesda releases. It is entirely possible for someone to sink hundreds of hours into the game without building a single outpost, modifying their ship, or even collecting the various available powers. The title's greatest strength lies precisely in trusting players with the freedom to choose which paths to take on their journey. The game is yours—have fun however you see fit.

It is noticeable that Horizon Zero Dawn draws inspiration from various sources, and there is nothing wrong with that. Rather than simply replicating ideas from other titles, Guerrilla sought to forge a distinct identity for its work. As a result, we get a game that offers countless hours of fun thanks to its dynamic gameplay and a narrative that constantly compels us to uncover more about its universe. Aloy's charisma is another standout point: great stories are usually accompanied by memorable characters, and that is no different here.

As the franchise's first entry to adopt the Metroidvania style, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown delivers a great adventure to players. With a vast, interconnected map to explore and plenty of challenges to overcome, the title easily offers over twenty hours of gameplay, and that's without accounting for side objectives and collectibles. It took me nearly thirty hours to reach the credits myself, and there are still areas of the map I want to explore further. Given that it's a challenging game, prepare to retry certain segments, especially the boss battles.

Evolution is a fitting term to sum up Horizon Chase 2 in a single word. Without losing the core essence of its formula, the talented team at Aquiris delivered a sequel that refined everything established in the franchise's first game. The visuals are perhaps the standout element, but alongside them, gameplay tweaks were made that provide a much smoother experience. Even with a higher degree of accessibility, the title manages to offer a healthy dose of challenge, especially in the time trials.

Looking back at the franchise's recent entries, Assassin's Creed Mirage is a smaller, more contained game, and that is by no means a bad thing. Over the course of roughly 20 hours, I had an experience that isn't particularly memorable, yet it is enjoyable in the way older games used to be. The title does have its exciting moments narrative-wise, but overall I'd say it lands somewhere in the middle when compared to other entries in the series. Fans of the classic formula will likely find plenty of fun here.
