On one hand, those coming in from past Rock Band will ease right into the new game. All past DLC is there, legacy controller support is there, and a suite of customizable gameplay options make it one of the most user friendly rhythm games to date. However, for those that are investing in Rock Band 4 for the first time, will find a rather slim track list on disc, one that they'll certainly want to increase in size with DLC.
Don't be fooled, the positives might have outweighed the negatives in terms of word-count on the previous page, but FIFA 16 still has room for improvement.
EA's NHL 16 is an improvement in every way over NHL 15. But there was really only room to go upwards. Some people will love the gameplay, others won't. It's really something you have to play and tweak.
While NBA Live 16 is a step forward in some areas, it's still hard to recommend over other basketball video games on the market. Until gameplay doesn't feel so stiff, NBA Live will feel like an 8th seed in the Eastern Conference -- in on the action, but not much hope to advance in the playoffs.
It's a game for kids, sure, but adults can easily find a lot to love about this game, and the franchise as a whole. It's nice that this time around players aren't expected to buy every single vehicle to unlock everything in the story mode, but seriously, how can you resist Shark Tank?!
Destiny did not need all of its innumerable growing pains, and many of its scars will never fade and should rightly never be forgotten. But The Taken King is proof that it wasn't fruitless. This is the game we were excited for back in 2013, and that we were struggling to find over the past year. The Taken King is what Destiny should be and should have been all along.
If you ever felt intrigued by the Animal Crossing games, but found their open-ended nature to be more daunting than relaxing, then Happy Home Designer might just be the answer. It seems like this game was also made to satisfy Sims players, who did nothing more but customize and furnished various homes to no end.
Armello doesn't completely replicate the feeling of tabletop games, but it's a nice alternative to play with friends who may be long distance. The spirit of tabletop gaming is there, even if all of the designs aren't.
If you were among those that felt that Forza 5 was a small step in the wrong direction for the series, Forza 6 seems like the perfect apology letter to its dedicated fans. Everything about it, from presentation to gameplay is refined to maximize fun, and eliminate grind. If you own an Xbox One, considering yourself lucky to be able to play, what is easily the best racing simulator on the market.
I wouldn't call a game like Super Mario Maker a system seller by any means, so if you don't own a Wii U yet, I'm not sure that this game will make you change your mind, however for those that love Mario's 2D adventures and always wished they could create their own level creations that could potentially outshine Miyamoto-san himself, then this game was literally made for them.
What Media Molecule does well with Tearaway Unfolded's gameplay is avoid the gimmicks. The world and the puzzles you encounter in Tearaway Unfolded are carefully constructed to highlight the DualShock 4's features. The result is fun, innovative gameplay, and an experience unlike anything I've had on PlayStation 4.
There's no denying that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is Kojima's masterpiece; A culmination of 30 years of Metal Gear games, and an evolution for the series. I know that Ground Zeroes was supposed to be the first taste of what The Phantom Pain would be like, but I don't think I was ever fully prepared.
Whether you are a fan of the Gears franchise, shooters in general or perhaps missed out on the Gears craze almost a decade ago, I recommend Gears of War Ultimate Edition due to its polish and refinement on many levels.
There is a lot of customization in terms of the various equipment you can outfit each character with, but it doesn't come close to the variety of builds that would have been available had the game employed a traditional loot system. Alas, Gauntlet isn't that game.
The cute and adorable Pip brings along an engaging story, clever mechanics and great design which makes it stand out among some other platformer games in recent history. Tic Toc Games made a great game and for $14.99 the game is a must play indie game for
OlliOlli 2 is absolutely overflowing with content. It's challenging, addictive, and gorgeous -- an absolute must-have for high score chasers and skate junkies.
A seamless transition to consoles with superb controller support and hundreds of hours worth of gameplay to dive into, all without a monthly subscription.
If you ever wanted to create deliciously devious Rube Goldberg contraptions of death, then Deception IV: Nightmare Princess might just be worth checking out.
Fun, challenging and definitely worth checking it out if you're a fan of physics based platformers.
Brutally unforgiving but impeccably designed, Invisible, Inc. brings espionage and roguelike elements together in a package that's equal parts cruel and beautiful.
