Monster Hunter Rise is the best Monster Hunter experience to date from a gameplay standpoint. Iterating magnificently from World's shift in pace, the Wirebug gives you freedom and manoeuvrability in a way the clutch claw could only dream of. What holds it back at launch is its limited content offering, leaving long-time fans like myself dead in the water while we wait for the first of what will hopefully be many major content updates. For those wanting everything I'd recommend waiting a few months, or even grabbing the PC release next year. But for others content with a steady stream of new content to keep them coming back, there is no better time to jump into the series.

7 / 10.0 - Say No! More
Apr 9, 2021

Say No! More is one of the most original and funny indie games released this year that I've tried so far, even if it's lacking in some departments.

6.8 / 10.0 - Genesis Noir
Apr 7, 2021

Genesis Noir is a short experience which is memorable for its unique presentation but also for its unintuitive, confusing and disorienting gameplay.

If you missed Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning the first time around, I highly recommend checking out Re-Reckoning. It has a great story and a well crafted world, combat is pretty fun and that soundtrack is phenomenal.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is the most barebones of a farming simulator. While updates have been promised to fix the technical issues and inject some life into it, it's not worth playing in its current state.

9.2 / 10.0 - Bravely Default 2
Mar 24, 2021

There is a ton to see and do in Bravely Default II, and it definitely lives up to the original games in all aspects. Things really open up in the final chapter and that's when the variety really shines brightest. Without a doubt, fans of jRPGs will find plenty to enjoy. Performance issues will pop up now and again, in both handheld and docked, however they're not glaringly prohibitive due to the turn-based nature of the game. More a minor annoyance on the eyes. Still the pros far outweigh the cons to create a genuinely fun overall experience suitable for a great range of people.

4.9 / 10.0 - Hellpoint
Mar 21, 2021

Hellpoint is a decent game with some issues of its own and if I had to give the game itself a score, it would be a 7.5 or so. Unfortunately, this port is rife with bugs and I can't really say I recommend it. If you're interested in playing this title, I'd say check it out on a different system. If you got to play on the Switch, wait for a bugfix. Or not and prepare for Hell.

True to its name, Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection offers players both the revival of a classic, and plenty of changes to shake things up. Able to be as new and different, or as traditional, as you'd like. Despite this it never waivers from its roots as one of the most difficult retro games out there, rather enhances upon them and evolves. It's an easy recommendation to both old and new fans alike.

8.1 / 10.0 - Kinetic Edge
Mar 11, 2021

There is a lot to like in Kinetic Edge; different modes, tight controls and fun physics. It feels a bit empty right now and it's not perfect, but it certainly has its strong points and plenty of room for improvement.

8.5 / 10.0 - DEVOUR
Mar 10, 2021

As a horror fan, this game scratches every itch I want when it comes to a horror game, and it does so while allowing me to experience it with friends. It's fun, spooky, and keeps me effectively frightened every time I get into it. Definitely recommended for fans of all things horror, or if you're just looking for something new to play with some buddies!

8.5 / 10.0 - Persona 5 Strikers
Feb 26, 2021

The switch to a new genre doesn't always benefit its combat, but everything done to recapture Persona 5 works splendidly, from the writing to the music and visual design. This is the first ancillary Persona title to feel like a proper sequel rather than just a spin-off.

I don't know if Richard's advice works, but that's beside the point. Less important than its efficacy is the fact that it's manipulative, sleazy and degrading.

Opinions can differ, but I wouldn't laugh at anyone who says that this may be the best Atelier game to date. Due to the fact that the protagonist is the same as in the previous game and that the story builds off of the prior one, I highly recommend people play Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. However, for those who have played the previous game and want to know whether this one is worth your time, it certainly is.

Overall, if you like Souls-like games and you liked Nioh, pick up Nioh 2 and I guarantee you'll love it. Despite some issues with PC optimization and a story that's not exactly great, the gameplay alone definitely makes up for it 100% of the way.

My second foray into the World of Darkness franchise unfortunately has left me wanting for more. There's definitely some fun to be had here, but the majority of the game manages to just feel dated and lazy, which makes even the most fun aspects get old before too long. I truly hoped for more from Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood, but what I'm left with is a game that I don't think I'll be re-visiting any time soon.

4.8 / 10.0 - Loot Hero DX
Jan 31, 2021

Loot Hero DX isn't a bad game but it's not all that great either. It's simple, which is its double-edged sword. It's a good time for a little while but eventually its charms wear away. Despite that, at a budget price, its a decent little time sink. However, if you are looking for an indie with a little more depth in either gameplay or story, I would recommend spending your loot elsewhere.

If you liked Space Invaders Extreme when it was previously released, or enjoy that kind of arcade action this is for you. If you like the idea of playing Space Invaders with 3 buddies, then this is definitely for you! If you only want the Arkanoid x Space Invaders game, it's available as a stand alone title on mobile.
