2 / 10.0 - Toren
May 12, 2015

I've been contemplating the best way to word this part of my review, and I just have to think being blunt and forward is the best way to go. This game is mediocre. It's a nice first try at a game, and the story of it is pretty great, but everything else falls so short I'm forced to simply say unless you're a big fan of indie games and you don't care about quality, don't bother playing this game.

Apart from chucking together some fierce combos and actually landing a superman-triple-backflip, I really couldn't find much enjoyment in staring at this overly drab flick book of a port. Sure the Switch is underpowered, but this is a real kick in the teeth for fans who would at least want a smooth albeit downgraded "off-road racing and lifestyle experience" on their hybrid console.

Avoid this game. I cannot put it more simply than that.

3 / 10.0 - Afterlife
Nov 3, 2019

Perhaps I am missing the point here, but nothing was fun, nothing was engaging and everything was painfully boring to watch. This game single-handedly drives home the fact that 360-degree video experiences are not the future of video games, especially when it feels like a hugely amateur production with horrible attention to detail with their own intellectual property.

3 / 10.0 - INFERNIUM
Apr 5, 2018

Infernium is certainly something else. It's not quite the Souls-like, Survival Horror Pac-man game the developer thinks it is, and it's certainly not something that's all that well put together. If you like running away from the same 2 enemy models with slightly different colors, don't mind the absolute lack of story beyond bad fan-fiction on random walls, and like dying to enemies around the corner, you'll love Infernium. Otherwise, it's best to stay away.

3 / 10.0 - Past Cure
Feb 24, 2018

Past Cure is a prime example of the adage “never judge a book by its cover”. The trailer had me interested enough to play it so that you don't have to.

3 / 10.0 - Submerged
Aug 6, 2015

Submerged could have been interesting. It could have offered a nice challenge, a good setting, a good story, but it did none of these things. Submerged ended up being so samey and monotonous that it isn't really worth playing through when you realize the first half hour is what the entire game is.

If you like repeating gameplay to get the controls of a bland party game down, this game is for you! Otherwise, wait for a better party game that will surely hit the PS4 sometime soon.

3.4 / 10.0 - Black Mirror
Jan 8, 2018

Black Mirror comes up short as both an adventure and horror game. Bugs and graphical issues don't help the already exceptionally dull story. I can only imagine it does very little justice for the original series it is based off. Whatever you do, don't go to Black Mirror castle.

The game tries so hard to be Animal Crossing but fails miserably in every aspect.

3.5 / 10.0 - Warparty
Apr 16, 2019

I can potentially see fans of RTS games loving this and enjoying it for what it is, but hardcore RTS fans will think this is just a dated attempt to bring the genre to switch. It could have been so much better. It should have been so much better!

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is the most barebones of a farming simulator. While updates have been promised to fix the technical issues and inject some life into it, it's not worth playing in its current state.

4 / 10.0 - Those Who Remain
Jun 12, 2020

This is not a game that I would recommend to anyone other than really hardcore horror fans with a penchant for point-and-click style gameplay. While it has a nice little story going on throughout it just doesn't captivate or craft a memorable or original experience. I understand that it is inspired by classic supernatural films and TV series, but frankly, it just doesn't work to make Those who Remain an enjoyable game.

4 / 10.0 - Swag and Sorcery
Jul 4, 2019

Swag and Sorcery is a game I recommend avoiding at all costs. It would feel more at home as a smartphone game, but even then it might get buried by the availability of superior town/hero management sims.

4 / 10.0 - Bullet Witch
May 2, 2018

Bullet Witch is a game that should have been left where it was: forgotten in time. It has some nice ideas, especially in its gameplay, but they are all poorly executed in a muddled plot with mediocre animation, making for a port that no one asked for.

4 / 10.0 - Hello Neighbor
Aug 4, 2018

A great idea for a game, has an interesting look, and is reasonably fun to play. The potential for it to be better is felt constantly, and you can't help but feel disappointed that many things you hope to see don't ever happen.

4 / 10.0 - ELEX
Oct 17, 2017

Overall, Elex had a lot of promise, but it's amalgamation of settings and mechanics do nothing positive for the game. With an utter nonsense mix of weapons, enemies, and settings, Elex might have been a decent game...for 2007. Unfortunately, it seems like Piranha Bytes still hasn't learned from their various mistakes with Risen 3. As it is now, there's simply no reason to try it unless you're a diehard Piranha Bytes fan.

I'll always love Parappa. It's due to this love that I have to be harsh here because I expect better from the origin of rhythm games. We'll just have to believe if he ever comes back he makes a debut that feels like a modern rhythm game should.

4 / 10.0 - Shadwen
May 16, 2016

From a first glance, Shadwen should be pretty great. Everything seems to look good and gives the impression that this game is totally finished. Then you make it past the first area and you quickly realize that Frozenbyte hasn't learned anything from their Trine 3 experience. Shadwen could be a promising game. There's a lot of potential with time manipulation, and if they could fix the AI this might even be worth a playthrough. But as it presently stands, I can't recommend this game.

4 / 10.0 - Bedlam
Oct 23, 2015

Bedlam unfortunately didn't have very many high points for me, other than having some solid gameplay that was plagued by mediocrity in its world. The sound design was nice, the graphics were lackluster and the overall experience left me wishing for an overall better experience.
