Deathloop is an exercise in trial and error, you must use the knowledge you have gained from previous loops to set your pawns in place in order to strike at the heart of the loop. It's like the worlds most elaborate game of chess.
Cruis'n Blast is a faithful port of the arcade classic, that suffers from the straight port of the same game. It's fun, it's fast, and will keep you entertained for hours. However, unless you're a huge fan of arcade racers, you may end up putting this down and never picking it back up. There's no substance and that hurts the game in the long run.
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is perfect for any long-time fan of the franchise who wants new mysteries to solve and new characters to meet. Some of its gameplay mechanics do hold it back, but the story and courtroom battles will help you hang on through the journey!
Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut is the definitive experience of the 2020 title, including the Iki island expansion the Directors Cut also brings with it a wealth of improvements and secrets that players can spend hours unraveling.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a must fan for anyone who enjoyed the Aliens film or those who love a great gaming experience. This is the best action-based game in the Alien universe.
Boyfriend Dungeon is a brief but incredibly well-crafted hybrid of dungeon crawling combat and a visual novel dating sim. It may drop the ball in its main story arc, but the characters and the relationships that can be made with each of them more than makes up for it.
Despite it's issues and archaic mechanics, FORECLOSED manages to deliver a pretty solid narrative that's carried on the back of its comic book styled presentation.
Hades is the best Rogue-like on the market. It's only downside is it's genre which will scare away the more casual gamer. Aside from that, everything about Hades is absolutely fantastic.
NEO The World Ends With You may have taken a decade to come, but it not only pays respect to the past, but brings forth a beautiful cast of new characters to the mix to interview a story that few can match. It's not a perfect game, but it's a fantastic one you'll want to play.
Despite a few small issues, The Ascent is an incredibly fun twin stick shooter set in a dark, cyberpunk world with a lighthearted cast of characters and plenty of things to do. Neon Giant has a patch based on player feedback planned for mid August so hopefully the small visual and audio bugs will be worked out sooner rather than later.
From a fantastic story and endearing characters to varied puzzles and a great soundtrack there is just so much to love about Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Its coloring book world leaves everything open for your interpretation, but also doesn't force you to spend any more time with it than what is actually required. I loved every minute I spent with the game and it is easily my favorite game of 2021 so far.
Death’s Door is a cutesy, yet challenging isometric game that takes many influences from Dark Souls and The Legend of Zelda, and shines just as brightly
Streets of Rage 4 Mr. X is an interesting piece of content. If you’re a fan of Streets of Rage 4 and have put the game down, unless you are fine with grinding to unlock new moves and various other content, then it’s worth checking it out. However, if you were looking for something more, you want to pass up on this.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a great introduction to the world of Final Fantasy for both new and old fans of the series, as well as people looking for a new or different MMO to play. While still having a lot of the standard tropes that an MMO does have, along with a lot of ones from the Final Fantasy series, the combination of both are a breath of fresh air for those people who have been stuck inhaling the stench of World of Warcraft for over a decade.
Mario Golf: Super Rush is a frustrating game from a frustrating developer. Camelot seems to have learned nothing from Mario Tennis Aces’ poor launch, and with future updates promised, it seems they aim to fix Super Rush’s flaws through content updates. Make no mistake – Mario Tennis Aces is a better title than Mario Golf: Super Rush, but perhaps Super Rush will follow in its footsteps once again and turn into a better game in a couple of months. For now, this is a title with great ideas that are held back by amateurish development choices.
With new stories, secrets, soundtracks, Sayori snacks, and so much more, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus proves the definitive way to experience an already great game.
At the end of the day, Hired Gun is a mediocre first person shooter where the cons far outweigh the things that make it fun. You would do best waiting for it to go on a deep sale if you really feel the need to explore this part of the Warhammer universe.
Bandai Namco's Scarlet Nexus is an interesting mixture of hack and slash meets JRPG and succeeds in just about every department. However, it's not without its flaws, which are minor. If you're looking for a fun action game with some RPG elements sprinkled in, then you can't go wrong with Scarlet Nexus.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is the same game we all played as a kid, with a new coat of paint and it works for the most part. Though the game might prove to be too difficult for today's gamers.
The Mass Effect trilogy contains as whole contains some of the most emotional, chilling, awe inspiring and down right fantastical story telling and gameplay that you will ever see in a video game, if this is a series that you have yet to dip your toes into, the Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a perfect place to start.
