Ninja Gaiden Master Collection is simply three individual games on the console of your choice. If you're expecting extras here, you're not going to get them. Still, it shouldn't deter a gamer looking for an amazing action experience. The first game is PACKED with enough action to provide for one hell of an amazing gaming experience. While the second game falls short of the first, it is still a phenomenal title that deserves to be experienced. There is no Ninja Gaiden 3… even if something called that downloads with the other two games. If you dare, try at your own risk.
Despite its many flaws, Biomutant remains a fun game with a study set of bones that might pay off in future titles should THQ Nordic give developer, Experiment 101 the green light to revisit their post-apocalyptic, kung-fu epic in a future sequel. As of right now, it might not exactly be worth full price until it receives some TLC.
Despite having a few flaws, such as missing modes and the lack of being able to invite friends for some online bouts, Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is a solid title. If and when Sega addresses the online issues, this will be a title that everyone will be playing, there's no doubt about that. Now if it was only available for the other platforms, it would be even better.
CAPCOM Arcade Stadium is full of classics that many arcade-goers will remember and enjoy in the comfort of their homes. Plenty of options to tinker with and the added benefit of unlimited credits will help everyone power through the games – even if it cheapens the experience. Sadly, the omission of a number of classic titles such as Dark Stalkers, Red Earth, and a few others does add a bit of frustration.
Neil Jones has created a terrific showpiece for how to take the classic runner and add in your own special aspects. The gameplay is enjoyable on the harder difficulties and stays just long enough to not wear out its welcome. Speedrunners or Achievement Hunters should rejoice as the game has plenty available for those seeking the perfect run. Perhaps a leaderboard will be added to it in the future that gives them, even more, to go after. Honestly though what will stick with me is the amazing soundtrack and its great sense of style that cements it as one of my favorite games of this year.
I'm sure you're tired of me saying this, however, this port of Days Gone for the PC is easily one of the best ports I've seen. The game runs well, I haven't encountered a single performance-related issue with my time playing the game. And trust me, I've looked. I don't know what magic Bend Studios worked to get this game so darned optimized, but I'm not complaining either.
At the end of the day, Outriders has a lot going for it. The gameplay is fun, I love the fact that there is more than enough loot to collect and spec out my characters. However, once you hit the end game, the game is essentially dead and that's troublesome. Adding to that, the game still suffers from a number of issues including terrible online, random crashes, abilities either not working or working correctly and random crashing – Despite People Can Fly putting in overtime to get the game to a better place. For now, I'd wait for the game to mature, unless the lure of some fantastic running and gunning is the only thing that matters to you.
Humanity has always wondered what life is like after death, lets hope that it is nothing like this. Wraith: the Oblivion Afterlife is a perfect example of how horror and VR go together like cookies and cream, but not a nice.
Resident Evil Village is a great entry into the otherwise weird third trilogy of the Resident Evil franchise. Taking a lot of what made Resident Evil 7 work as a great horror experience and adding to it with things that people enjoyed about Resident Evil 4. However, Resident Evil Village does feel like by adding things from Resident Evil 4, that CAPCOM is about to remake some mistakes of old.
New Pokemon Snap shines in bringing the Pokemon world to life and having you take pictures of it. It does have some long-game flaws, but in the short term, you’ll be in Nirvana as you see Pokemon left and right and try to get all the best shots of them.
Star Wars: Republic Commando is the type of Star Wars game I wish we were getting more of these days. Its tight gunplay and tactical commands still hold up remarkably well and its story has big Clone Wars energy. It may be short and lacking in extras but it still manages to be a great experience after 16 long years lost in The World Between Worlds.
It Takes Two is a puzzle, platforming title that is reminiscent of Nintendo's Mario titles but it also contains a touching story of love and adventure that you can't help but smile at.
Monster Hunter Rise is an expertly melded combination of the best elements of the series and some truly phenomenal new tricks. Whether you're a veteran Magnamalo slayer or a rookie hunter, you don't want to miss out on this new hunt. This is a much-play if you own a Switch.
Bowser’s Fury is an experience that should not be missed by any Nintendo fan. From the new level and open world designs, the catchy music, and the metal havoc from Max Fury Bowser, it is just a fun time through and through. Open to all types of players and co-op modes makes this accessible to anyone. While it may not be the full Mario adventure like Odyssey or 3D World, it is still full Mario experience that Nintendo is known for. Tributes to Super Mario Sunshine and Odyssey with ideas that may lead into future titles. Completionists will be rewarded and acknowledge for their efforts. A great expansion to an already solid package to 3D World.
Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse has more highs than lows, but those lows can get close to feeling like a slog. It’s a blast to play, even though you’ll have seen most of what it has to offer before the halfway mark. Luckily the game’s roughly eight-hour runtime makes it, so it never becomes tedious or boring, but it does get painfully close to that territory. Ultimately, your mileage is going to vary. Stubbs the Zombie surely has its flaws, but I enjoyed myself through the adventure enough to say that bringing this cult classic back from the dead was a good call.
All in all, it’s not a bad port. It’s definitely not as rough as Nioh 1 was, but it does need another round or two in the optimization department. There’s no reason why one of the best GPUs on the market, combined with still equally decent CPU, should be seeing the performance I observed. I could see if this was confined to just playing at 4K, but even 1440p was a chore. Once KT addresses this, the game will be in a better position.
Cyber Shadow‘s level design is so good that you’d be forgiven for thinking Yacht Club both developed and published the title. The game is superbly paced, ripe for multiple replays, and visually polished. It won’t win over those who don’t love retro action platformers, but even casual fans of the genre will love this one.
Ikenfell captures the charm of its muses and adds its own flavor to create something unique and rewarding. It’s a clear labor of love, and the result was well worth the effort.
Gears 5: Hivebusters is just what the series needed; a short but enjoyable romp, new faces, and a new perspective. It's clear that The Coalition wanted this to be special and they succeeded. Hivebusters is a showcase for those playing on either the Xbox Series X|S or Window 10 and is a perfect example that less isn't always a bad thing.
People have been waiting for 8 years for a new Medal of Honor game and Above and Beyond could have been that triumphant return to the series people have been hoping for, unless you are starved for new VR content I would give Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond a wide berth.
