The Outerhaven Productions's Reviews

Final Fantasy XIV Online: Heavensward & Final Fantasy XIV Online: Stormblood are prime examples of how you should follow up a great opening chapter in a multi-game game like Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn. The time spent with Final Fantasy XIV Online now feels like it is really getting somewhere instead of just one long introduction. While Final Fantasy XIV Online: Stormblood doesn't quite balance the leveling experience with the story questline, everything comes together as an overall amazing experience leading into Final Fantasy XIV Online: Shadowbringers.

Riders Republic is an exhilarating open world extreme sports game with a lot of little issues that build up over time. It's lackluster character creator and insistence on interrupting the flow quickly grows tiresome.  If you're a fan of Steep, Riders Republic is undoubtedly for you. If you're not though, you can probably wait to play this game.

Just amazing. Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy is a triumph in both the gameplay department and the story department. There are a few flaws here and there, mainly bug issues likely to be fixed in the day one patch, but they're not enough to dampen the experience in the slightest. A must-play, a wonderful game.

Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality should have been one of those games where you really feel like The Doctor, but a half-hearted VR walking simulator working with only references to please long-time fans, feels like a huge missed opportunity and a reminder of why Doctor Who doesn’t get that many game releases, no matter which incarnation of The Doctor you like.

Diablo II is one of those games where you could recommend till the cows come home, but Diablo II: Resurrected, on the other hand, is one of those remasters where you should expect something more than a fresh coat of paint. Diablo II: Resurrected should have been a game that was a true remaster, fixing the remaining few issues with Diablo II, but instead is another horrible remaster from Activision-Blizzard that removes more than it adds to the overall game and experience.

Deck Nine has crafted a truly wonderful tale of a community coping with loss and discovering where you belong in a world where you never quite fit in. Life is Strange: True Colors only has a few small issues but otherwise, the latest entry into the franchise is one that everyone should experience.

Kitaria Fables is a fun, dungeon crawler with a relaxing farming sim twist but it doesn’t quite live up to the same hype as other games in the same genre. With that being said though, its simple gameplay mechanics make it easier for younger audiences to pick up and play.

Metroid Dread was a game 15 years in the making, and it was well worth that wait. Full of great visuals, fun enemies, new powers, and a true sense of fear via the E.M.M.I. robots, you’re going to want to try this title for yourself, and then recommend it to others.

Back 4 Blood is a good game, it improves on the Left 4 Dead formula in a way that is challenging and creative. However, the move to forcing people to advance the overall game by going online, being forced to work with randoms in a very badly connected cross-platform multiplayer games where without a solid communication base, resulting in Back 4 Blood being an experience in frustration rather than a very enjoyable game. If Turtle Rock allows for private games where you can do under 4 players with bots instead, then maybe this game can truly be something that is a must-own. But at the moment Back 4 Blood is only worth playing if you have a premade group of friends.

Far Cry 6 gives you exactly what you want and expect from the franchise. It doesn't do much to reinvent the wheel or shake up the formula, and that's okay.

Unscored - Steel Assault
Sep 30, 2021

Steel Assault is a great time if you have an hour or so to kill and want something that wears its retro influences on its sleeve. It’s stunning to look at and has some of the tightest controls of a 2D platformer on the market right now It’s one I’d recommend for anyone that still has a taste for the classics or for anyone that wants to try something new when ignoring their already overwhelming backlog.

WarioWare: Get it Together is a strong addition to the series. Its character-based gameplay adds a unique spin to moment-to-moment gameplay, even if most players will only use about half the roster. An irreverent and crude sense of humor elevates the experience and makes you wonder if Nintendo’s other franchises wouldn’t be better served by becoming a bit more messy.

The Forgotten City boasts a rich gameplay experience that lives up to the ingenuity of its clever premise. As a role-playing choice-based mystery, the game offers a compelling narrative with some engaging existential questions at its center. With four distinct endings, it gives players a decent enough amount of leeway for approaching moral quandaries. And as a way of both solving puzzles and fixing mistakes, the time travel mechanic is worth its weight in… some sort of precious transition metal.

All in all, Hot Wheels Unleashed is a fun arcade racer that has a lot going for it, and unlike other arcade racers, it has enough going for it to keep you coming back. Even after the campaign is completed, there's still lots to do, such as finding all the secrets, getting the best time on all the tracks, the basement, and the track creator. Even if this wasn't a Hot Wheels game, this title is a solid arcade racer, and I'd recommended it to anyone who's looking for a racing game that isn't too serious.

Cruis'n Blast is a faithful port of the arcade classic, that suffers from the straight port of the same game. It's fun, it's fast, and will keep you entertained for hours. However, unless you're a huge fan of arcade racers, you may end up putting this down and never picking it back up. There's no substance and that hurts the game in the long run.
