7 / 10.0 - Coffee Talk
Jan 28, 2020

Coffee Talk (the game, not the late-night skit) allows the player to open their own coffee joint, speaking to the oft-eccentric characters that make up a fantasy-inspired alternate universe. With impeccable drinks and a comfortable spot for talking it out, the rainy nights promise to have some memorable events.

All the imperfections and sorrows of the world... They fill human hearts with Darkness and seem to become an integral part of our selves. If only we could take a magic brush and cleanse it once and for all, make the world around us a better place to live. Well, Concrete Genie allows you to do just that. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot finally brings what many fans have been asking for and takes the iconic franchise into new territory with a more open world and a ton of RPG mechanics. While this fan-service increase in power level definitely transforms the well-known story into a new form, it's still far from going Ultra Instinct.

8.5 / 10.0 - Darksiders Genesis
Dec 24, 2019

After a field trip into Dark Souls land, Darksiders Genesis is a triumphant comeback of the beloved franchise to its true self. While it might not be the most important entry in the franchise story-wise, it's by far the most ambitious one in terms of gameplay. Despite some small issues, it manages to be a fun, straightforward action experience that has us quivering in anticipation for the future of the franchise.

As a first attempt at a new genre, Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists is not a complete failure. Everything functions as it should, and outside of the time limits it's not an overly complicated game. However, it ultimately fails as a celebration of Atelier's 20th anniversary. The hallmarks of the series such as exploration and synthesis have been simplified drastically, and the characters taken from previous games are underutilised by both the story and gameplay. This might not be the worst way to introduce someone to town building and simulation games, though it will likely fall short of Atelier fans' expectations.

8.3 / 10.0 - Synth Riders
Nov 2, 2019

Synth Riders isn't worse nor is it better than Beat Saber. It's its own VR rhythm beast that will appeal to a different kind of audience. If you can't resist some good retro-inspired, electro music and a Tron-esque neon aesthetic - this is definitely a game for you. You'll most certainly have plenty of fun and could even lose a pound or two in the process.

9 / 10.0 - The Outer Worlds
Oct 24, 2019

The Outer Worlds manages to step out from underneath the shadow of the Fallout franchise and offers an experience that's quite unlike anything else the galaxy has seen this console generation. The game's themes may evoke capitalism and corporate greed, but one will notice how profoundly human it is over course of 30 hours.

Sekiro is a game that was always going to be compared to Dark Souls, but in many ways, it stands on its own as a great game. While it has the same kind of feeling to the way the world is built around you, it is in some ways more similar to a character action game like the Devil May Cry or Bayonetta games, focusing more on unlocking new ways to fight.

9 / 10.0 - Devil May Cry 5
Mar 20, 2019

This is a product designed to appeal to me and I'd say it overwhelmingly succeeded, I enjoyed my time with DMC 5 and will no doubt get hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it in the future. The combat system typifies easy to learn but exceptionally hard to master all while being extremely cathartic and rewarding skilfull play. After Resident Evil 2 Remake Capcom have knocked it out of the park again. This game is a love letter to DMC fans but also fans of action games in general. It's absolutely a must buy for action fans.

An emotional, thrilling tale told like no other, Red Dead Redemption 2 tells the story of one man’s pursuit of loyalty. Arthur Morgan, a wrong-doing but right-minded cowboy, raised by Dutch Van Der Linde after his parents left the picture. For over twenty years he’s been following Dutch blindly, and now maybe he’ll find out who the guy really is.

8.6 / 10.0 - Resident Evil 2
Jan 30, 2019

Resident Evil 2 is fantastic. It's a reminder that there's still life in the old-school survival horror genre. Not everything has to be so action heavy and you can terrify the player without the need for cheap jump scares. (Even though Resident Evil 2 is guilty of that in a few places.) It's proof that you can still use some old tropes like keys and reusing previous areas without cheapening the experience. However, it might be a little on the short side for some.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is an absolute joy of a game and any negatives are ultimately nitpicking because they don't lessen the experience substantially. If you play games for their narrative, this one should be on your must play list as it brings an immersive, interesting and engaging story filled to the brim with interesting and multilayered characters and locations. The game can take you anywhere from 40 to well over a 100 hours, depending on the difficulty and your style of play. Suffice it to say that a couple of years ago I didn't actually like isometric RPGs but games like these are reason enough to turn anyone into an unflinching fan.

9.5 / 10.0 - God of War
Apr 26, 2018

God of War is a story about family and grief fused with all the epic brutality audiences have come to expect. It surprises the player at every turn. That in itself makes this masterpiece from Santa Monica Studio a true delight to experience. Most importantly 2018’s God of War reinvents itself in totally modern ways while reminding players that the franchise has always been on the cutting edge of what videogames can offer as a medium.

Bayonetta 2 is a declaration to the Demons of Inferno, and the Angels of Paradiso that Bayonetta is here to stay. The second game in the series takes the stylistic action of the first game and turns the dial to 10. The game features new weapons, breathtaking set pieces, and new features that solidify Bayonetta as the Queen!

We all have that one bar that we like to go to. The locals don’t like it very much and it’s got its problems but that is “our” bar that we’ve grown fond of. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is the equivalent of that bar for me. It has its problems, some of which would be damned to hell were it any other game. Although there’s a reason you haven’t heard too much bad press about it. It’s incredibly easy to forgive the game of its failings when it offers this much quintessential RPG gameplay and fantastic world design. Warhorse Studios have taken the time to build a snapshot of today’s Czech Republic and wind back the clock on its design all the way to the 15th Century. An essential part to creating a game that feels rewarding and fun is building a learning process for the player first. A process of gradual self discovery. Kingdom Come: Deliverance offers that up in spades and if Henry sucks at fighting, flirting or horse riding it’s only because he hasn’t done enough of it. As a result, his ineptitude is never frustrating. It’s just a signal to the player that there’s a heck of a lot of grinding to be done. If you’re into that kind of thing, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is for you. It will provide you with literally hundreds of hours of taking care of Henry and sheepishly stepping into the next big event, hoping things will be OK. When all’s said and done Kingdom Come: Deliverance is nothing short of impressive and will be even more so once we get a few patches. A grown up RPG for grown up players
