All in all, if you are looking for a good JRPG and a reason to use your 3DS that isn’t called Monster Hunter or Pokémon, this is it. The name may be a bit of a turn-off to people casually browsing the 3DS library, but this game delivers in a way that I never expected it would.
If Dave Meltzer had reviewed this game, it'd get 5 stars for having Kazuchika Okada and the Tokyo Dome in it.
If you were looking for some sort of evolution to the music game genre, surprisingly Activision hit the nail square on the head. Not only is Guitar Hero Live a fun product to play, but it is also an enjoyable game to watch with its live performances and music videos. Rock Band 4 was hesitant to change, while I can't wait to see the future of Guitar Hero now!
It's important that you know about the issues present in the game before you're told that in spite of all that is wrong, it's still an incredible adventure.
Even though I can take a sizeable time to complain about Breath of the Wild (and that’s not even talking about performance issues), the game is still a very good one. I would comfortably say that after an extensive period of playing Breath of the Wild, I do believe that it is one of the best Legend of Zelda games that has ever been made.
Battleborn is great, but it just isn't as inviting it could be – and the marketing has made it look more like a direct competitor for Blizzard's Overwatch, despite being considerably different. It's a shame more people aren't getting onto the Battleborn bandwagon because while it isn't a smooth as Overwatch it's far more complete and feels like a full game instead of paying to continue playing a demo.
In spite of the flaws, Attack on Titan is a great way to introduce people to Omega Force (that is, if they didn't play the excellent Hyrule Warriors) and hopefully it'll introduce more people to Dynasty Warriors as well.
Overall, The Banner Saga 2's story is simply fantastic and is filled with beautiful animation. This game needs to be seen and heard.
Total War: Warhammer is definitely impressive for a casual like me, and I definitely plan to spend more time with this game during the summer lull so I can learn the other factions and the Chaos order, which thankfully I wound up getting free during launch week but it sucks that it costs people if they didn't buy it early.
Cuphead’s biggest enemy isn’t the Devil, it’s RNGesus.
No mistakes about it, Severed is the first must own PS Vita title that’s come out in quite some time and if you’re a fan of Drinkbox or simply a fan of fun at all, Severed absolutely deserves a place in your library.
While it’s mostly more of the same, some new mechanics on top of an already excellent base make The Fractured But Whole a must have for any South Park fan.
It takes a lot of guts to remake a game in the first place, but to put your own spin on a classic while still remaining a labor of love really speaks for Inti Creates and their love for the franchise and respect for its fans.
Destiny 2 is the game I was totally hyped to play three years ago, finally.
Fire Emblem Warriors is a terrific experience, but the story isn’t up to par with what fans might expect.
Minecraft Story Mode really appears to be something marketed to younger players that love Minecraft, as there are things like conventions and little jokes for anyone that has sat in front of a crafting table before. I found the first episode amusing, but my son saw it as one of his favorite games given a new breath of life with a real story and characters within the world itself.
I’m going out on a limb to say Dying Light 2 isn’t for everyone. There is a bit of frustration you need to initially power through. The overall gameplay loop requires a bit of self-sufficiency if you want to get the most out of your experience. Once you can take your time in the night/dark cycles of the game, there is a lot more that opens up, but that also requires a ton of backtracking.
Quantum Break is definitely a game worth playing, even though it's flawed. It's got some great music (Royal Blood's Ten Tonne Skeleton was a nice surprise) and some fairly good character interactions – along with a great TV show to boot. It's just unfortunate that it feels pieced together for no reason other than to get people to watch the TV show instead of feeling like a solid game with a great bonus.
When it comes to raging, throbbing, murder boners, no one can compare to The King, Duke Nukem.
It looks and sounds great, but even this remaster’s improvements and decent combat doesn’t make the story any better.
