I think the most impressive thing about Ghost Giant to me is that this is Zoink Games first swing at making a VR game and they hit it out of the park on the first try. The narrative here is very strong and many of the scenes in the game hit me on an emotional level.
As it stands though, Falcon Age is easily one of the more memorable PlayStation VR games I’ve played and I highly recommend you get a virtual pet falcon of your own.
Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice is an incredible audiovisual experience, regardless of the platform you are playing it on. While in handheld mode the level of immersion might be somewhat reduced, the audio is where it really counts and that aspect is every bit as good on the Switch as on the more powerful consoles. If you have yet to play this game, listen to the voices in your head and pick this up, you won't be disappointed!
Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs sticks to the same formula the franchise has been using for years now but I had a good time with it while it lasted.
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid isn’t a bad game it’s just one that isn’t living up to its potential and that to me is what is really disappointing about it.
Dangerous Driving isn’t the Burnout game that many of us have been waiting for sadly.
I can’t speak highly enough of Stories: The Path of Destinies. All I wanted to do after I finished each story was start another one to see what different choices I could make and different worlds they would take me to.
SNK 40th Anniversary Collection I feel like is worth checking out to anyone who is a fan of retro games or those who want to learn more about SNK’s history.
All-in-all The Story Goes On is a solid game. What it does, it does well. The visuals are pleasing and varying enough not to get boring. Boss fights require strategy and perma-death means that you take caution whilst battling through the dungeons.
Everything in Devil May Cry 5 is ridiculous in the best way possible. The action and combat system are ridiculously deep. The graphics and music are ridiculously good and the story and fan service is ridiculous as well.
While The Wizards: Enhanced Edition isn’t a super long game coming in around 6 hours for me it does offer reasons to replay it.
Henchman & Goon have crafted a fine puzzle, platformer in Pode. We loved the characters of Glo and Bulder and despite some frustrating puzzles and a disagreeable camera, we always felt motivated to push through to see them to the end of their journey
Assault Android Cactus+ is arguably the best version of the game that you can play. Sure it doesn’t look quite as sharp as it does on the other platforms but it still looks good and more importantly runs just as well. It still is one of the most fun twin-stick shooters I’ve played even three years after I first played it.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an amazing achievement and would have been a definitive contender for game of the year if 2018 wasn’t such a mind-boggling year for video game quality.
Codemasters shows once again that they know how to make great racing games with DiRT Rally 2.0.
If you played the first game and wished the difficulty was a little more accessible or wished you could play it with a buddy you’ll find both of those things are now possible in Dick Wilde 2. If you’ve had your fill of these wave based/shooting gallery VR titles though I’m not sure there is anything here that will get you to jump in.
I had hopes for RollerCoaster Tycoon Joyride but they sadly crashed and burned when I got to see what it had to offer. Designing the tracks can be irritating due to a wonky camera, riding the tracks isn’t that thrilling do to lack of speed, and I still wonder why there is a first-person shooter in this.
Despite the lack of content Bit Dragon has made a fun new multiplayer arena game in Hyper Jam. Anyone can pick it up and play and things like the perk system and weapons help keep things different enough as you play round to round. Even more importantly is how good it looks and sounds while doing so.
There is a lot to play through here but there aren’t a lot of options in terms of playstyle. Having more than one weapon to use would’ve been nice and having the option to play with friends online would help this be a more accessible party game.
If these “one more go,” perform tricks and get huge scores, type of games are something you enjoy then FutureGrind is worth your time.
