Styx: Master of Shadows is a stealth game that relies entirely on just that, pure stealth. The beautifully open-world mission designs are great, and the stealth gameplay is extremely satisfying. For $30, a hardcore stealth fan can't go wrong with Cyanide's latest title.
It's not perfect and the nostalgia goggles are likely affecting my memories of the first game but Bayonetta 2 is still a great time and better than pretty much any other action game out there.
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is the greatest detective experience in the gaming today. As a game though, it's fairly rough around the edges. Interesting game play mechanics and strong cases will make this a must play for any fan of Holmes, mysteries, or point and clicks. If none of those strike your fancy, this game is not for you.
The action is over the top in a good way. Traveling around Sunset City is like a roller-coaster ride and the script will often take jabs at itself just to pull a chuckle or two out of you.Sunset Overdrive is arguably top dog at the moment and very much worth a buy. The game rarely feels like a try-hard, because it's lightheartedness allows for it not to be.. Never has there been a game that actually feels like a video game and not an attempt to be an overly serious or dark. As Game Fanatics, we wouldn't have it any other way.
I refuse to believe that Big Red Button looked at this and said it was done. In all likelihood their efforts were kneecapped by time and money constraints. Shame on Sega for publishing this broken, obviously incomplete mess. The glimpses of a good game that occasionally break through only serve to make this failure sting more.
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is a creative, hilarious game with its fair share of problems, but that shouldn't stop fans of both Lego and Batman from playing.
Inquisition is everything I want from an RPG and more. Unfortunately the more is countless hours tedious collectibles and fetch quests. Still, it's the most ambitious Bioware game yet, offering an action packed main quest of around thirty hours, a beautiful world to explore and interesting characters to meet. This comes highly recommended and should be an instant purchase for anyone with the time to spare.
Shadowrun: Dragonfall's narrative, characters and world make it one of the best experiences in gaming. Play it.
Iron From Ice is a spectacular start to the series and if it keeps up this pace, will prove to be one of Telltale's best games.
Never Alone is a short but sweet indie title that shows video games can be more than just entertainment. It's an enjoyable romp through a blizzard that may just teach you something. If you've been looking for something different but not silly, grab a friend and gather around to experience a story passed through generations of Native Alaskan storytellers.
Neverending Nightmares has a promising concept that drew me in, but the story is shallow and the focus is more on disturbing gore than psychological horror. Forgettable, average and hard to recommend to anyone.
Echoing classic horror stories from authors like H.P. Lovecraft, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a wonderfully unique experience. It's not without its faults, but if you can get past the shallow story and gameplay, you'll be in for an immersive treat.
Far Cry 4 doesn't do much to differentiate itself from its predecessor, but it doesn't necessarily have to.
Shovel Knight was fun for a while, but it didn't do enough to keep my interest the whole way through. A very good old school platformer that doesn't do enough to earn a place in modern gaming. If you're feeling particularly nostalgic, go ahead, otherwise you might want to play something a bit more ambitious.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a very impressive prologue to The Phantom Pain. It's short, but it makes up for it with a shocking ending, beautiful graphics, polished gameplay and lots of replay value.
Secret Ponchos is terribly marred by connection problems and lack of content but it's biggest vice is it's underpopulated lobbies.
Valkyria Chronicles' engrossing story with beautiful art style and unique gameplay makes this title easy to recommend. Just be prepared for a challenge.
If you've enjoyed "Destiny" and are looking for more of what you've already enjoyed, then this will scratch your itch, though not very efficiently. But if you're looking for something new and interesting in the world of "Destiny," give this a pass.
Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby don't break the mold, but as remakes they improve the experience in every way.
Everything has been improved upon since his adventures in Super Mario 3D World. The game pad does distract from the beauty of the main screen, however it's a worthwhile tradeoff as the new abilities and level types that take advantage of it are a joy to use, it's just a shame about the inability to turn off gyroscopic camera controls for those that don't use them. Regardless, Captain Toad's first solo outing is as golden as the treasure he tracks.
