8.5 / 10.0 - Black Skylands
Aug 26, 2023

Black Skylands has a compelling story and is a great mix of a twin-stick shooter with a flying game that switches between the two often enough that you won't get bored. Piloting a large airship can be frustrating at times, but it gets easier as you practise.

It's pretty good but has some very annoying problems and not the most logical AI. It can be enjoyable for grand-strategy players, although I can't really recommend it to anyone but the rare people who want an unexpected and honestly weird take on strategy.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a joy to play, while there are some minor growing pains, it is more than worth your time and money.

While the plot and characters in Mediterranea Inferno are interesting, the lack of any real gameplay makes this a difficult game to recommend. If you want an interesting journey but don't want much involvement, then this could be one for you.

7 / 10.0 - Don Duality
Aug 24, 2023

Despite some harsh penalties and almost unwinnable scenarios, Don Duality can be a fun and addictive roguelike card game that will keep players grinding away for hours. Providing luck is on their side, of course!

8.5 / 10.0 - SPRAWL

If you don't mind the relatively ugly graphics at times and are interested in trying out a boomer shooter that encourages a bit more strategy, then SPRAWL might just be the perfect title for you.

7.5 / 10.0 - Mirrored Souls
Aug 23, 2023

Mirrored Souls uses its gimmick well for some really cool and fun puzzles, however, there were just some levels that didn't quite stick the landing for me.

8.5 / 10.0 - Fort Solis
Aug 22, 2023

Fort Solis is a great game with amazing production quality, there are small optimisation issues, and the pacing can feel a bit slow at times, but the story, graphics, and sound design are all amazing. It has fair pricing without a "premium version" or DLCs.

Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara is a very enjoyable speedrun-focused platformer with plenty of collectibles and genre clichés. It isn't revolutionary to platformers, and it runs very short, but if you don't mind the price tag, it's well worth a try.

Little Friends: Puppy Island is a casual game whose main job is to be cute and innocuous. If you go into playing this knowing you're getting exactly what it says on the tin and nothing deeper, then it's a nice de-stresser and a fun way to pass the time.

8.5 / 10.0 - Zombie Soup
Aug 20, 2023

Zombie Soup is a fun top-down twin-stick shooter that fans of the genre will enjoy. The enemies are a ton of fun and have silly personalities, like the zombie boss who tries to hit you with a fish! I just wish there was the option to play with a friend.

7.5 / 10.0 - Varney Lake
Aug 20, 2023

Varney Lake is an interesting coming-of-age story with a supernatural twist. The characters were all fun and the interactions between the children were great. If you have a couple of hours to spare, check this pixel pulp story out and learn what happened in the summer of 1954.

4.5 / 10.0 - DROS
Aug 18, 2023

DROS isn't bad, but it isn't good either, the game has a few more negatives than positives, but to be honest, it mostly has "neutrals" and is extremely uninteresting.

7.5 / 10.0 - Blasphemous 2
Aug 17, 2023

Though steeped in stunning artwork and illuminated by its intriguing lore, Blasphemous 2 is ultimately a paint-by-numbers Metroidvania title that is occasionally more frustrating than it is fun.

8.5 / 10.0 - Remnant II
Aug 17, 2023

I cannot have enough of Remnant II's fantastic co-op gameplay, especially thanks to its intense replayability. However, I do wish there had been more emphasis on the story to have something to root for along the way!

Shadow Gambit is a near-perfect game for stealth strategy fans. The new sandbox approach means that levels feel a little less curated than Mimimi's previous titles - but who cares when you're having this much fun?

6 / 10.0 - Hammerwatch

I loved Hammerwatch II's fighting and gameplay, but the lacklustre narrative, unrewarding sidequests, and uninformative quests and world traversal leave much to be desired.

5.5 / 10.0 - Gord
Aug 15, 2023

Gord succeeds in painting a dark and gritty picture of a group of people surviving against the odds in a dangerous environment. The Horrors are fantastic, but small niggles and big frustrations dampen the enjoyment somewhat.

6 / 10.0 - Crime O'Clock
Aug 15, 2023

Crime O'Clock offers a detailed, charming world with innovative hidden object gameplay, but excessive dialogue and repetitive mini-games will interrupt your point-and-click adventure too many times to count.
