PS4Blog.net's Reviews

I recommend this release for the gameplay, but I really hope the next release from the team will be less buggy than this because even with the latest patch – months after the game's release – this is still the buggiest game I have played on my PlayStation 4.

7 / 10 - Hive Jump
Jan 11, 2019

Hive Jump is a fun single-player and multiplayer release that will keep you busy for a while thanks to its fast action, solid difficulty curve, and procedurally generated nature. The game is certainly not for everyone, but if you give it a chance, you will find an entertaining game to take on by your own or with friends by way of its local co-op.

I liked playing through Storm Boy and reading the story and its beautiful environments, but be warned that this is a very short game that I Platinumed in around 25 minutes or so.

Although it has a different take on word search puzzles, this game quickly gets repetitive to a point where your eyes won’t like you anymore.

8 / 10 - Arca's Path
Jan 10, 2019

Arca's Path VR is a neat PlayStation VR game that you can either invest small bits of time or dedicate bigger chunks of time for long runs. It's a beautiful, serene world to fall into with some fun and skill-based gameplay as you try to keep that marble on the path. Due to the simple control scheme as well, this is a great VR title for anyone to play, even newbies into VR with easy controls.

It also has a big one-up over similar games for other platforms: the lack of microtransactions. These are any parent's bane, as they are all flashy money grabs. But being on the Nintendo Switch means that you only need to pay a low price for the game, with nothing else to worry about – your wallet is safe. This is a fun and easy to understand casual-style release that you're going to have fun with. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but games don't need to do that with every release, right?

When I started playing Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! I first thought that the game was too hard, but the more I played, the more the gameplay mechanics and the overall cycle started to click with me.

Overall, in my eyes, Road Redemption is a success. It's a good, fun, spiritual successor to the old-school Road Rash games with the developers putting their own unique spin on the series, creating something fun and new. I think the visuals will hold it back from getting more people playing, which is a shame as the game is really good despite that.

8 / 10 - NASCAR Heat 3
Jan 4, 2019

NASCAR Heat 3 is a good follow up to last year's version expanding some of the more fun points in that release. The additions in the dirt series were great, along with the career mode upgrades, so they have done a lot of solid work. The game handles just as great as last year's version, but it still struggles in the visuals department, with competitors out there that look much better, which is the one complaint I have about the game.

Super Volley Blast is a fun, colorful and addictive arcade-style release on PlayStation 4 that will keep you coming back to play “just one more game” over and over again. The game managed to grab my attention right from the start, and I kept playing more and more to also work on unlocking the many trophies the game has to offer, because this one has a Platinum trophy to achieve with objectives such as winning matches in Story mode, playing many matches in all of the game's modes, saving many custom avatars, playing a quick match, winning a game after your opponent scores no points, performing 100 blocks and many more. The game is worth playing with more than enough content, a full trophy list, and a reasonable price.

8 / 10 - Koloro
Jan 3, 2019

When deciding about whether this game is for you or not, it all comes down to one thing: if you like the first dozen or so levels, you will probably like the other 30+ stages it offers. If not, then it might be harder for you to really get into this one or you might find it a bit tedious. Kolori is certainly a good game that you can pick up and complete some levels here and there to come back to it whenever you want or can, so be sure to pick this one up for your Nintendo Switch!

Sundered: Eldritch Edition is certainly a must-have for any veteran or fan of the Metroidvania genre. It's probably not a good pick for someone who is just starting out with the genre as this one does require a high skill level to play it without getting frustrated by your own mistakes, picking the right abilities to smooth things out as you go to lower the overall challenge, which, to be fair, is not the game's fault really. We all gotta start somewhere, but if you're new to the Metroidvania genre, you should definitely get some experience under your belt before you dive into this one.

Phantasy Star is an RPG classic and having it available on the Nintendo Switch is certainly great news. The quality of life improvements made available in this version as part of the SEGA AGES range make it easier for those new to the franchise to get their feet wet with a rebalanced game that now also features an in-game map for each of the many dungeons you'll visit that will auto-fill as with each step you take, making it an easier sell for those that didn't get a chance to experience it back in the day. I loved playing the game at home and on the go, and I very much look forward to Sega hopefully releasing the rest of the Phantasy Star RPGs on Nintendo Switch under the SEGA AGES series.
