Death End re;Quest struggles to do anything to entice players from outside the JRPG space, but for fans of the genre, there's plenty on offer here. The story is compelling, the characters are diverse, the combat is fantastic, and it is one of the freshest JRPGs I've played in years.
Though I entered a skeptic of Apex Legends, my experience with the title has made me believe that it the best battle royale game currently on the market.
Big Dipper's tale of romance and the holidays has merit, but the game could have used a good copy editor. In its current state, this visual novel is a bit too by-the-books to suggest for those looking for a good story.
Squidlit is overly simplistic by design, which somewhat works against it. Those that don't mind a short adventure will enjoy inking their way through its whimsical world, but those looking for something meatier might be disappointed.
Synthrun's broken platforming and bland aesthetics make for an experience that fails to capture the art of parkour or the world of synthwave.
Metro Exodus has the potential to be a solid game, but it just isn't there in its current state. Those on the fence best wait for a few patches before picking this one up.
Little Comet is a casual title that packs just enough challenge to appeal to more hardcore gamers. Don't be fooled by its cutesy aesthetics – completionists will have a field day getting every last star.
God Eater 3's gameplay has some hits and misses, but the overall experience proves to be a solid one. Anyone who likes Monster Hunter should certainly give this one a whirl.
Life is Pointless lives up to its title by being an absolutely pointless affair. Though players can hit any key to progress, the only two buttons worth pressing are Alt and F4.
Newcomers to the series will be baffled by the complexity and bizarre nature of Kingdom Hearts III's story. Despite this, if you like good combat and want to visit Disney World, you can do far worse than this title.
Endhall might be small in stature, but it hits all the right notes for a compelling roguelike. Those that like to experiment will find an adventure worth their time, however short it may be.
Though INVAXION's gameplay does not shake up the rhythm game genre, the amount of options available is second to none. Those willing to cut their teeth will find a challenging title that pays tribute to the greats.
Resident Evil 2 sets a new standard for game remakes. Series veterans and newcomers alike will find a meaty adventure they can sink their teeth into with this title.
Toaster Jam is a fun diversion, but it lacks the depth and content needed to keep players coming back. Flying around breakfast-themed environments can be fun, but this may have been better suited as an arcade or mobile title.
Duke Dashington is over before it even begins, but it provides an interesting puzzle platforming adventure worthy of any treasure hunter.
Any JRPG fan who missed Tales of Vesperia the first time around shouldn't hesitate to check out this definitive edition of the title. Despite its age, the game still holds up in 2019.
Sonar Beat tries something new with the rhythm game genre, but the small tracklist and spartan stylings do not leave a lasting impression. When paired with its somewhat buggy nature, you have yourself a project that could have used more time in development.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is a solid experience for fighter plane enthusiasts, but it plays things too safe. Sticking to a tried-and-tested formula that has ensured the series' success and continuation for nearly 25 years is a sound strategy, but it lacks in innovation and any new exciting creative direction.
Hexanome is a minimalistic puzzler that skews on the side of obtuse. Throwing players to the wolves without much direction is a bold move, one that will make or break this game for a number of people.
Those who enjoyed the original release of Onimusha: Warlords way back when will enjoy their time with this remaster. Even if you're a newcomer to the series, fans of action RPGs will appreciate its design.
