Recommended - Need for Speed Heat
Dec 18, 2019

When someone asks me how I would describe Heat, I say Prostreet during the day and Carbon during the night. During the day are the official showcase events and then during the night are the illegal street races that get the attention of the cops. However, I'm jumping forward so let's start from the beginning.

Recommended - OUTBUDDIES
Dec 10, 2019

Outbuddies nautical depths have a colour palette that reflects the despair and loneliness of the deep. Blues and purples are put to stark contrast on your character's reds and pinks. The understanding to have a subtle, yet striking palatte coupled with the pixelated graphics is no doubt a visual recipe for success.

No Recommendation / Blank - Citadel: Forged With Fire
Nov 28, 2019

Desperately searching for fun, we hung out in the starting zone, hoping to interact with a few players. In the starting zone itself is a safety bubble--like a force field protecting the new players. This is great, but the moment you stepped out--it was curtains for you. Mid to high, and even some braver low level players camped out at the edge of the bubble, waiting for some daft adventurer to cross its threshold. It became very clear that ambushing unsuspecting new players was the fun to be had in Citadel: Forged with Fire. You could make it past one of these malicious players, but once in the wild, you face enemies that never lose aggro, unclear or no instruction as to what to do or build and strange bugs that begged to be squashed.

Unscored - Woven
Nov 25, 2019

You start out with an old, rough looking Stuffy, who for now is stuffed, and sewn together to look like an Elephant. What a perfect first animal to pick to start off the adventure. Appealing to kids and adults alike, he is a little faded and limping on one leg.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is a great example of what a solid game developer, time, passion, and virtual hands-off by EA can do for a Star Wars game. No hidden charges, no bullshit micro-transactions or loot box rubbish -- just a solid game that entertains and rewards a player for playing it. Top quality!

The levels themselves are really well designed, when you are going down a spiral hill at a ridiculous speed you need to take care that you don't go shooting off the side while collecting bananas as you go along. Its like most games, you pick up over a certain number of collectibles and you earn a life. When you start the game you just assume that the levels are quite easy and you'd be right at the start but then as you progress, not only does it test your skills, it also tests your patience.

No Recommendation / Blank - Bubble Bobble 4 Friends
Nov 19, 2019

Really, the one big problem that I think Bubble Bobble 4 Friends has is that, sticking true to the original design doesn't leave you a lot of room to grow and experiment. This feels like a more slick presentation of an 80s arcade game...Because that's what it is. For all of the 3D graphics and such, unless you're busting out the 4-player co-op, there's not that much here to differentiate it from the cabinet you played as a kid or one of the various decently popular home ports you may well have owned.

Essential - Luigi's Mansion 3
Nov 18, 2019

As you progress through the game, the story is about luigi trying to rescue his friends, who have all been put into picture frames. So armed with his handy Polterguster 3-00, the third of its kind, handy as this is the third game in the series. Luigi progresses through the hotel, one floor at a time, gaining access to the next floor of the hotel once the previous "boss" ghost of each floor has been sucked up and dropped the floor button for the lift. Each floor has its own theme to do with the hotel, but personally I believe that Nintendo run out of hotel themed floors, or didn't want people to just keep inspecting random hotel rooms filled with beds for the whole game. So when you reach floor 4 and higher, the rooms becomes different each time with some ranging from museums, film studios, to even a full on pyramid. This makes the game so intriguing to find out what awaits you on each floor.

Recommended - Planet Zoo
Nov 13, 2019

Let's talk about building! With the career mode, you'll have a pre-built zoo for the first couple of levels whilst you learn the ropes. Slowly, you'll be made to build habitats for your animals, how to fill said habitats with animals, and how to keep them happy behind the glass. There is also small exhibits--things such as spiders and snakes to take care of in the very same fashion. It's not straightforward and there's many factors to consider when bringing the animals in and getting them settled it, but to me that was the fun of it. I loved reading guest comments about how my hippos looked particularly content, or how my tigers appeared well fed as they sat belly up to the Sun.

Once you have some meals to take with you, cooked using the things you grow, you can venture out in your rowboat (rowing devours your energy, especially with big waves) and explore the other islands for materials, crew, secrets and other plants/food that you can bring back with you and use in camp. This gameplay loop is fun, marred a little by the quick drain on your energy. Exploration is going to take you a long time, many repeated trips across the ocean and in some cases you'll only get a handful of materials for your troubles.

Over 100 fish and fishing spots all over the world, you will enjoy the view of some of the most beautiful spots on this planet to cast your line. From all over the US to Italy, Netherlands and much, much more. In order to see these spots, you will need to complete missions and rank up in EXP. I also mentioned above that you'll need to buy licenses for all spots that you visit. It will cost in game currency, make sure to keep up with selling your fish at the end of the day.

Recommended - Megaquarium
Nov 3, 2019

Megaquarium is a nice and smooth management game where you have to develop and construct your own aquarium. You start off with a little plot of land that only resides of a small amount of space and an entrance for the guests. The tutorial is a nice way to get you started, walks you through the process, the UI, the goals and more. Now the game is split into two different modes, campaign and sandbox. I would seriously recommend the campaign first because it introduces you to a nice learning curve. You start off with a nice small aquarium and have access to the basic equipment to work with. The game just eases you in at the right pace because there is a bit more to the game than just making a tank and putting fish inside it. It shows you how to build the tank, add in the essential extras like the filters and the feeders that every fish tank needs. Even things like heaters and tool stations that your staff are going to need to efficiently. It is really refreshing to play a campaign that teaches you the ways to play the game and how to use the tools and facilities provided for you to be successful in making a great aquarium.

Now the first thing you need to know about this game in case you didn't know when it comes to farming, it's extremely repetitive, as in driving back and forth over a field you cultivate, sowing seeds and waiting to harvest the crops. You get a walkthrough on the vehicles you'll get to use along with the trailers, plant spray to protect them, equipment to destroy weeds before they can affect your crops, bailers and more. It is amazing how much detail this game goes into when it comes to the different equipment available, along with the processes, tasks and more. You will need to switch vehicles as well as refuel them when necessary.

Recommended - Felix the Reaper
Oct 26, 2019

So, a strongly presented idea with Felix is his love of music. He slaps on a pair of headphones at the start of every level, his boss admonishes him for it in the first cut-scene of the game, and his every step is done dancing to the beat of the game's BGM. There's even a track list in the pause menu, letting you skip or replay tracks just as Felix might do.

Recommended - Code Vein
Oct 24, 2019

The combat in Code Vein is that of your typical hack and slash game with a stamina system inspired from the likes of Dark Souls, you have your heavy attacks and light attacks which you can combo together that occasionally in the right circumstances can activate a finisher with cool animations (note that these little animations can be deactivated in the system settings) the enemies vary in size and shape and hit hard...even at a higher level it is unwise to assume you can plough through enemies in the beginning areas of the game, as for the bosses they are awe inspiring, big and come with mechanics that must be mastered in order to beat them.

Recommended - Deliver Us The Moon
Oct 23, 2019

Unfortunately there's a few hangups I have about the overall game, but rest assured nothing in the way of not recommending it to you! Deliver Us The Moon is a graphical powerhouse, one that if you intend on running it in all it's glory, will require a bit of clever hardware on your computer. There's some inconsistencies with the playable parts graphically as well--incidental cutscenes litter the storyline here and there, and these tend to be of a different, lower quality to the rest of the game's design. Heavy noise filters are good at masking a bit of these lapses in quality, and whilst they don't ruin the game itself in any way, are still there.

This is a most exciting game indeed. Yooka-Laylee is a classic and is fun for all ages. In this adventure we have two ways of playing. Platformer mixed with Open World 3D. The first thing someone will notice is that we start off in a platformer style genre, but after completion you will get a whole lot more out of the game than just running back and forth while jumping and rolling around obstacles.

As someone who played Ghost Recon Wildlands, it's hard not to make a comparison. The games are similar, but Ubisoft have put a lot of work into making Breakpoint a deeper, and more rewarding gaming experience. The game world is rich and detailed, and packed with places to explore and things to do. Right from the get-go, the world is open to you. There are no walls or invisible barriers (except for one of the islands that seems reserved for end game activity)

honestly hadn't had so much fun playing a portable game in a long time. I was really surprised that the game runs so smooth on the Switch, I can't comment on the PC version since I don't actually own it. Normally with some games on the Switch you do notice some performance issues but with this game there were none. Of course, its not the game with the most advanced graphics in the world but that doesn't mean they can't be beautiful and beautiful they are.
