Cultured Vultures's Reviews

6 / 10.0 - Unexplored
Aug 22, 2018

As solid as Unexplored is in its core concept, the performance issues do represent a bit of an issue. Still, it's certainly very much worth your time if you like a good bit of exploration, and especially so if you haven't played a lot of roguelites.

I could play this game for so many more hours and still feel like I was learning something new and just scratching the surface at the same time. Monster Hunter: World isn't going to be for everyone with its challenge and controls, but for those who embrace the life of the hunter, there are so many good things to experience.

9.5 / 10.0 - Okami HD
Aug 15, 2018

An all-round beautiful game that has been made even more beautiful by the passage of time. Its availability on so many other platforms may not necessarily make this version a must-have, but for Switch owners, it's definitely a must-play. For those who have never experienced it, this version is the ultimate. The $20 price tag doesn't hurt it one bit either. But maybe I'm just a big ol' softie.

7.5 / 10.0 - H1Z1: Battle Royale
Aug 14, 2018

Even though the battle royale genre continues to add new competitors, H1Z1 should stand out amongst the pack, not just because it's one of the concepts founding fathers. Hell, it got me, noted battle royale curmudgeon and all round miserable bastard, to enjoy my time with the game. That's worthy of some merit.

The first episode of Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season is exactly what the series needed to remind people why it was such a success back in 2012.

9.5 / 10.0 - Dead Cells
Aug 6, 2018

An utterly compelling and challenging ride, Dead Cells is a dense and consistently evolving game that is what every budding Early Access game should aspire to become.

After being soured by the last episode, Episode 3 of The Council, Ripples, does a decent job at getting us excited for the game again. Colour us cautiously optimistic for the rest of the series.

Certainly rough around the edges, 1979 Revolution: Black Friday still boasts enough heart to make it worth playing by any Telltale fans.

3 / 10.0 - Hello Neighbor
Jul 27, 2018

Frustrating in almost everything it tries to do, Hello Neighbor's interesting concept is completely wasted by its execution.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection is a logical move by Capcom that they could have phoned in by just porting the PS2 collection and calling it a day. Instead they added Rookie Hunter Mode, X Challenge, and all the Extras you could ask for, all wrapped up in a competent interface to carry you between each game.

Great art and design can't make up for dated, semi-open world adventuring.

6.5 / 10.0 - The Mooseman

An interesting and widely untold story can't do enough to gloss over The Mooseman's gameplay pitfalls.

7 / 10.0 - Danger Zone 2
Jul 18, 2018

Danger Zone 2 is an explosive and fun, if short, game. It's flashy and exciting where it counts, despite having a few bugs that can be major annoyances, and at the end of the day, still worth a try.

Even a couple of interesting quirks can't stop Earthfall from falling flat.

5.5 / 10.0 - Mothergunship
Jul 16, 2018

Though the core gameplay is as rock solid as Tower of Guns, MOTHERGUNSHIP's weapon crafting is a victim of lost potential. Still, we're hopeful that Terrible Posture Games can turn it around with future updates.

9 / 10.0 - Rifter
Jul 12, 2018

Despite, or maybe even because the game is so relentless, Rifter is such a rewarding experience, making each level a cause for celebration while simultaneously hitting you with your next eulogy.

All-Star Fruit Racer is a bold attempt at making a name for itself in an oversaturated genre. Unfortunately, the lack of focus on delivering a consistent product has left AFR a little under-ripe and could have done with a bit more time to develop.

7 / 10.0 - Blacksea Odyssey

It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but Blacksea Odyssey is a great example of bringing something new into a saturated genre.
