SteamWorld Quest is a marvel in its own right, and a victory in a genre full of eternally popular bestsellers and beloved franchises.
Katana ZERO is a game that has a lot going for it. The visual style, music, branching dialogue options, and unique time bending abilities certainly separate it from the crowded pack of 2D side scrolling indie action games. Unfortunately, this isn’t enough to save it from repetitive and aggravating game play.
The art style is immaculate and beautiful in nearly every way, giving testament to the creators’ vision of a world that is alive and breathing.
Falcon Age’s narrative is touching and sincere. The concept of bonding with a pet or companion to accomplish your goals is not one that has been overdone, and will appeal to many players. Technical issues aside, Falcon Age is a welcome title that not only helped us see a different angle of modernization than we are used to seeing in the medium, but was also incredibly cute and enjoyable.
We highly suggest this game for any fans of strategy games, even if they are new to the Tropico series.
Overall, while short, the compelling nature of She Remembered Caterpillars more than makes up for this shortcoming. It offers enough of a challenge to stump you into working to decipher the puzzles, while not punishing you for your attempts.
Overall, even though The Division 2 has some less exciting points and enemies are essentially just re-skinned and buffed up as you progress, I’m having a ton of fun with it. It feels complete and like it was ready to be released.
With dated yet distinctive visuals, Observer is sure to suck people into the Dystopian world that Bloober Team created, but it won’t be for everyone.
Overall, this game has the look of a wonderful, fun, puzzle game for kids but, in reality, it is near impossible for two adults to play without becoming frustrated.
Throwing an enemy against a wall will decimate them. And decimating an enemy has never felt so good as it does in Ape Out.
Metro has come a long way since the series' humble beginnings last generation. Each sequel builds on the foundation that its predecessors built yet can't quite shake some of the flaws that have always held them back a bit. Many of the issues found in 2033 and Last Light have been addressed. However, Metro Exodus still finds a way, especially as the game hits the third act, to remind us of many of the problems we've always had with this franchise.
Despite its simple premise and familiar aesthetic, Hyper Jam delivers an intense, fun experience that we really cannot recommend enough. This is a game PlayStation owners should pickup.
There probably isn't enough here to bring new fans over that haven't played the series in the past due to outdated graphics and some features missing from prior releases. That really is a shame because if you'd take the time to sit down and play it there really is a plenty of fun to be had here.
If you’re looking for a challenging 2D RPG and love everything that From Software has created over the past ten to fifteen years, you’ll love Salt and Sanctuary.
This game will not challenge you nor will it show you anything that you haven’t seen before from a mechanic point of view. Clocking in at only 3 to 5 hours, you won’t even be playing it for all that long. But what Pikuniku will do is make you smile. It’s outrageous, random, nostalgic, and most importantly, shouldn’t be missed.
Though not without its faults, specifically on the dialogue front, YIIK is a fun well crafted RPG that has been years in the making.
In the pursuit of crafting an indistinguishable game world and granting advanced levels of autonomy, the developers forgot to make Vane any fun to play.
What GRIS demonstrates is that there is beauty in ambiguity, and solace in solitude.
We’ve said it multiple times this year and we’ll say it again; games like Arca’s Path VR are why we bought VR to begin with.
Darksiders 3 feels like the weakest entry in the series to date, which makes it hard to recommend to anyone other than those looking to continue and complete the story of the Four Horsemen.
