Drunkn Bar Fight on Halloween might be fun for a few laughs with friends, but probably just for a few minutes each and then never again.
Tetris Effect is a masterpiece. Tetsuya Mizuguchi took a tried and true classic and reinvented the entire experience around it, taking a game about falling blocks and making it an emotional journey.
Transpose is an innovative take on the puzzle game. The fact that it is in VR only enhances the innovation.
A Sub Par Party Game Weighed Down By Limited Controls
Unless you are truly passionate about the genre you’ll probably get frustrated early on and find that the game gets stale after a few playthroughs.
Fans of the original and anyone with empathy for the human condition will line up to check out the sequel and fall in love with an all new cast of characters.
Final Days offers players a lot of fun and won’t break the bank. It’s surprisingly rewarding and takes a refreshing amount of planning to survive.
Blind has some technical hiccups that keep it from being a perfect game, but it’s still an incredibly original experience that could only be possible in VR.
Shikhondo Soul Eater may not change the way you look at Bullet Hell experiences, but does it really have to?
HackyZack is a challenging retro-ish affair that will speak to fans from the 16-bit era or so. If you enjoy challenging platformers, this game is for you.
For any long time Marvel fan, the sheer experience of being able to step into the shoes of your favorite heroes will be an amazing feeling. It’s clear that a lot of care and consideration went in to making you feel immersed as the character. Sadly, the incredible feeling of being a super hero is weighed down by repetitive and imbalanced gameplay.
For those who spent hours playing the original Ninja Gaiden or Castlevania on NES and are looking for a bit of nostalgia, The Messenger will be a near perfect fit.
We recommend Donut County to anyone looking for a short, yet enjoyable game to play for a few hours. Since the mechanics are easy to pick up and the themes of the game can be easily understood, we believe this is a great game for all ages and is even one to enjoy with kids on the weekend.
Overall, we'd suggest you give Strange Brigade a try, but make sure you know what you're looking at first to keep your expectations in check.
Any fan of the platforming genre, especially those in the vein of N++ and Super Meat Boy, will love their time with Spectrum.
There is a lot to like about HYPERGUN. While the distinct visuals and sound track only run skin deep, there is a real excitement and allure of unlocking rare weapon attachments and it did help me to push through the more frustrating aspects of the game.
Guacamelee! 2 is a deeply enjoyable mix of brawler and platformer on multiple levels. Drinkbox Studios has shown a clear mastery of its own iconic art style by bringing it to the next level with this strikingly beautiful game.
Though Fall of Light does little to evolve the genres that the game falls into, fans of the Souls and Diablo series will find a lot to love here. While it’s not a bad game it is somewhat forgettable.
This game appeals to all who find they have an inclination for existential and pessimistic morbidity, though they want to keep it lighthearted. In addition to being a fun play on death and what that entails, this game also begins to describe issues involving faith, trust, community, ethics, and politics. We highly suggest everyone to play this game and see if it sticks with you as much as it did for us.
Fans of walking simulators and story driven games will find a lot to love here. While some of the systems in the game are rather intricate they tend to be unnecessary and even tedious at times, making the gameplay and puzzles overall drab and boring. With such a mixed bag of elements it’s hard to recommend We Happy Few to anyone that isn’t up for a long game that is story based.
