8.9 / 10.0 - Oxenfree
Oct 21, 2017

If you’re looking for a unnerving game to play this Halloween, Oxenfree is the game for you. Although, easily completed in a night, Oxenfree doesn’t overstay its welcome. When you finish the story, I urge you to try not to press that ‘Start Game’ button all over again just to get a different ending. It will fill you with joy, sorrow and spine-chilling moments; Oxenfree absolutely nails every aspect of what a ‘good’ game should entail. The story is spot on, the graphics are beautiful and the music is alluring. This is only a brief look into the World of Oxenfree, for only £15.99 it’s totally worth picking up to experience it for yourself and find out what is happening.

13 years have passed since the last Metroid 2D, Metroid fusion is considered a masterpiece and this Samus Returns seem to be also. We are faced with an exceptional game that collects everything that makes this saga great and brings you the newest of the last generation. But for me, the most important thing is that it is a hope. Samus is back. The most despised saga of Nintendo has returned to reclaim its position to stay. A very bright future is coming. Now is time to wait for the Nintendo Switch Metroid Prime 4, the other great game announced at E3 in 2017!

9.1 / 10.0 - Doom
May 25, 2016

In conclusion, DOOM is the best game (and also best looking game) I’ve played this year so far and I think it has managed to deliver according to the high expectations about it. Despite its flaws and the -poorly explained- negative reception by some of the media, this is one of the biggest 2016 titles that will be hard to skip if your are able to see how glorious it is. Whether it’s due to the challenge of completing the campaign in every difficulty setting or the huge amount of hours multiplayer mode and snapmap delivers, DOOM keeps giving you a reason to come back.

Dark Souls Remastered is a special experience. With almost no narrative or direct story the game somehow utilizes combat to force the player to feel true emotion, you’ll feel victorious, devastated, inspired, distraught, confused, powerful and so much more. The world really works well with the story that’s available to convey a quest of epic proportion. You know what you’re doing is important. You feel the stakes. It’s this gauntlet of emotions that a player feels that makes Dark Souls so unique. There’s no doubt that this is an incredibly challenging game, but it’s a challenge well worth undertaking. There is no way to describe the sense of personal achievement this game will give you, experience it yourself and you’ll feel an addiction creeping in that you won’t be able to escape. This Remaster really is the definitive Dark Souls experience and a brilliant way to make one of the best games as accessible as possible.

It is easy to see why Hellblade received universal acclaim when it released on PlayStation and PC back in August 2017 and also why it swept 5 Baftas at the recent 2018 awards. It is a triumph of mature story telling, incredible audio design and meaty, visceral combat. What is even more impressive is that this game was created by a mere team of 20, released at a low price point and has production values that easily rival most AAA games on the market. A definitive must have for Action-Adventure Fans.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a fantastic 2D platformer that is challenging, filled with collectibles, and has a nice handful of characters to choose from. The game is beautiful, and the soundtrack is spectacular. The co-op element is wonderful, and the game is a ton of fun. Judging the Switch release without taking the Wii U version into account, this is definitely worth a purchase. However, here is the problem... Other than the higher resolution, the faster loading times, and Funky Kong, it's the same exact game that can be picked up for Wii U and a fraction of the price. Donkey Kong Country fans will not need convincing but for those who own the game on Wii U, the only reason to get this game is for the portability aspect of Switch. It was enough to warrant another purchase for me, but will it be for you? Other than that, this release doesn't add any incentive to double dip. For those who love challenging 2D platforming, this is definitely worth the purchase because of its extremely high fun factor and the challenging difficulty. Regardless of platform or year released, this entry is still a wonderful showcase of Retro Studios creativity and talent, a near masterpiece of exceptional gameplay and design.

In conclusion, Shadow of Mordor is the best LOTR game I have played in a long time, it reaches the expectations and although some are very critic on the similarity with the assassin's creed system, I have to say I really enjoyed playing this epic game full of emotion, adrenaline and a soundtrack that will blow up your mind. The challenge of completing the campaing 100% will make you spend hours of fun, as the secondary missions are very attractive and challenging but keeping a balance that makes them achievable for any player investing a moderate quantity of time, it is not just a game that incudes high definition graphics and sound quality, but much more than that.

After playing all the Assassin’s Creed games and now having played Origins, I have to say that I’m not disappointed. I didn’t really expect anything in this game to be different except maybe the story line but Ubisoft rose to the challenge and crushed it with this game! Origins is a perfect starter game for anybody who wants to be a part of the AC franchise. Just know, that once you’re hooked it’s hard to get off.

Overall this game deserves its praise for both the graphical improvements shown from their first games this generation until now and the superb gameplay that they present. It's honestly hard to find a flaw at this point in the game and not to recognize this as one of the best first person shooters of the generation. There is no doubt that most FPS games strive to deliver this performance but fail to do so on many levels. Machine Games does it with great ease it seems. I was sold on this game when they first announced it due to the connection they were able to have on me with their previous games. What I didn't expect is the level of improvements they have made in such a short period of time. They truly care about the franchise and making sure it delivers on all points right up until the credits roll. If you've not purchased this game yet, I would suggest doing so in the link provided below, or on the platform of your choice. It is definitely a game you are not going to want to miss out on. Also, if you are new to the franchise, go ahead and pick up Wolfenstein: The New Order and the prequel to the story, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood to give yourself the utmost treat to such a quality franchise. What is even better is you can purchase The New Order and The Old Blood in a double pack right now for the low price of $29.99 to make sure you get the full and complete story of BJ Blazkowicz and his Nazi fighting ways.

9.5 / 10.0 - INSIDE
Oct 26, 2017

There are very few games that will provoke as much thought after you walk away from the adventure. I genuinely found myself asking “What did I just experience?” as the credits rolled. Graphically the game is gorgeous and the controls snappy and intuitive. Inside is a triumph of both storytelling and game design, what it sets out to achieve as a video game it most certainly achieves. My only criticism would be that after completing the game there is no real reason to go back (unless you didn’t get all the Achievements/Trophies) and this is only a negative because I enjoyed the game so much.

9.9 / 10.0 - Super Mario Odyssey
Oct 31, 2017

Mario Odyssey, in it's most simple description, is a triumph. How Nintendo manages to take a tried and successful formula, mould it into something fresh without breaking it is an outstanding achievement. However, Odyssey is much more than that. When Mario 64 launched in 1996 the world gasped; how did Nintendo manage to craft such an amazing experience? Well, now 21 one years later they seem to have done it once again. From the precision crafted gameplay mechanics to the beautifully created 3D worlds, Odyssey excels on all levels. It also offers incredible value for money with the sheer amount of content on offer. In a landscape where traditional single player games are becoming more scarce, Mario leads a shining example of what can be achieved.

10 / 10.0 - God of War
Apr 22, 2018

God of War is the game that will define this entire generation. It takes great ideas from multiple games and doesn’t just improve on them, it brings a unique twist to make those ideas shine brighter than they ever had. The story has epic moments of brutal, stylish combat like any God of War game should have, these are tempered by emotional moments that Oscar winning movies can’t compete with. The world and characters are brought to life in a way that no other video game has matched, Midgard truly feels real as you are totally immersed in the journey. To call God of War the Game of the Year in 2018 is really not doing the title any justice, there are very few games that have ever been made that stand close to this game’s brilliance. Sony Santa Monica have crafted something totally unique here and deserve every single sliver of praise that players have to throw their way. If I could condense this two thousand word review into three words, these would be: Play This Game.

Breath Of The Wild is one of the best games ever crafted. It is a wonderfully beautiful game in a realistic world with an amazing cast of characters and fulfilling adventure. I recommend everyone to play this game regardless of your opinion on Nintendo or the Zelda franchise because it’s a fun game that looks great. As someone who grew up with the franchise, seeing where it was to where it is, it’s nice to see the series at its pinnacle and once again the game, and franchise, to beat. I look forward to see how the series progress and having the freedom to play it on the go, or on the T.V., makes it even more spectacular. Nintendo has shown that there really isn’t such thing as hardware limitations when you have a strong vision and a great team of developers passionate about crafting a great game and experience. This is a great game with a spectacular vision created by a talented, passionate, group of developers and it’s also a reminder that, sometimes, the best games come from Nintendo. Sometimes the best things truly do come in small packages.
