Pure Nintendo's Reviews

Oct 26, 2021

A Little Golf Journey oversells its "stunning" courses and struggles to stay fresh with a mostly safe approach, regardless of plot attempts. It's the sort of game that did enough to make me want to keep going for a few hours, but not enough to finish, let alone 100% it. Lacking diversity, both aesthetically and gameplay-wise, it pales when compared to many other Switch golf titles. But, even with a subpar camera, the secrets are quite a bit of fun. Assuredly not $19.99 fun, though. The content is there, but the enjoyment and polish aren't as much. Wishlist this one for a sale while you browse other relaxing games on the eShop, and wait for an improved follow-up.

8 / 10.0 - Volta - X
Oct 26, 2021

If you enjoy playing Volta-X online in the main mode, you're likely to enjoy the Metaverse update. It's offline for you to play when you want and practice with the various Voltas.

4 / 10.0 - Project Winter
Oct 22, 2021

Project Winter is a great game concept that you can clearly see how the game is supposed to work. Yet  the game was ruined by bad lobbies and awful players. While this is not the game's fault on its own but rather its player based Project Winter is a game that can't really be recommend you go out and purchase, unless you have four other friends that want to play with you. As a solo experience, there are much more enjoyable multiplayer games you can jump into on Nintendo Switch.

8 / 10.0 - Shadow Corridor
Oct 22, 2021

Shadow Corridor is a fun Japanese horror game. Perfect for Halloween and any late-night sessions alone or with a group of friends. The controls are smooth and easy to pick up, the jump scares are very effective, and the music elevates everything within this game. My main concern is the replayability the game promotes isn't as strong as I initially hoped, but that doesn't impact the overall experience too much.

6 / 10.0 - Knights & Guns
Oct 21, 2021

Knights & Guns uses…well…knights and guns to change up the classic Space Invaders / Galaga 2D action gameplay, but is bogged down by its in-game economy for weapons and advancement. It's fun for some quick two-player gaming sessions, but is not rewarding enough for long-term engagement.

8 / 10.0 - LoveChoice
Oct 21, 2021

Overall, LoveChoice offers a good time to experience, at least once with each of the different endings. Priced at $4.99, I think it is worth it. I can tell a lot of heart and love was put into this title.

7 / 10.0 - Colors Live
Oct 20, 2021

Considering the limitations of the Switch's small screen and physical setup, Colors Live offers a pretty good range of tools and functionality for a low-cost painting game. It doesn't have the capabilities serious artists will want, but its accessibility and daily challenges provide a fun way to get some drawing practice in and stay creative.

8 / 10.0 - Sheepo
Oct 20, 2021

While Sheepo has some flaws, the solid platforming coupled with shape-shifting mechanics more than make this worthy of your time. Definitely worth checking out.

Tetris is Tetris, so well known and broadly adored. And even if Tetris Effect: Connected is familiar, it's still great fun. The refinements make it a worthy addition to your Switch library, even if some of the tunes can be hit or miss. It'll scratch that Tetris itch, offering rewarding challenges you can return to time after time, even for those who've been manipulating shaped blocks since Alexey Pajitnov's original.

Diablo II: Resurrected gets enough polish and features to appeal to fans of the original release and to series newcomers. The exploration/combat loop is still fully engaging, with only a few remnants of its age interfering with gameplay on the Switch.

8.5 / 10.0 - HIX: Puzzle Islands
Oct 18, 2021

HIX: Puzzle Islands is a surprisingly fun game. The fun puzzles strike a perfect balance between tricky and satisfying, with a truly relaxing ambience set amid a cute and well-designed world. It easily earns its E rating, as this is a title that can be enjoyed by everyone. HIX: Puzzle Islands is a surprisingly fun game. Death's Gambit's Afterlife is a creative 2D platform that has incredible level and character design. The start menu and actual combat instructions could be more detailed, but all in all, it's a very good game.

9 / 10.0 - Gleylancer
Oct 14, 2021

Gleylancer is a deep shooter that grew from a good shmup to a great one the longer I played it. To those in the know, this clever shooter's a tour de force, and I can now see why. It's smooth, addictive, highly replayable, and enjoyable, with rarely a dull moment. If you're a genre enthusiast, consider this an essential addition to your gaming library. Kudos to Ratalaika Games for publishing this, and for only $6.99. If this game had co-op, it might've been a 10.

8 / 10.0 - No More Heroes 3
Oct 13, 2021

Travis Touchdown has grown in his "final installment" of No More Heroes. Because of this, the overall game has a different feel than previous entries and might be why it's my favorite game in the franchise.  Travis is a much more likeable character with some tangible realizations of action's consequences. Paired with an interesting story, this makes No More Heroes 3 the best entry in the series. If you are a fan, No More Heroes 3 should definitely be added to your library.

7 / 10.0 - Ultra Age
Oct 12, 2021

Ultra Age may not be a complete package, offering little outside it's compelling combat. However, the moment to moment gameplay is incredibly enjoyable, even if the Nintendo Switch version of the game is noticeably stripped back.

7.5 / 10.0 - NBA 2K22
Oct 7, 2021

NBA 2K22 is another good entry in the fantastic NBA 2K series. Its reworked shooting mechanics, impressive visuals on Switch, and loads of NBA content will keep any basketball fan's attention for hours on end. While many modes received no noticeable additions, and there's a heavy desire for spending money on microtransactions, NBA 2K22 is still a must-play for Switch basketball fans.

7 / 10.0 - A Juggler's Tale
Oct 7, 2021

A Juggler's Tale is a polished title, delivering a smooth gameplay flow that's over too quickly for its launch price. Anyone can appreciate the visual presentation and voiced story. Meanwhile, enthusiasts will enjoy the blend of puzzles (albeit easy ones) and action. It's a unique game in many ways and one that leaves an impression. But, it also leaves you wanting more. I hope to cheer on Abby in a sequel, one whose price better matches its length.
