The Eternal Cylinder is a very charming little adventure title that spews creativity.
Lemnis Gate is perfect for those who love FPS and strategy games, or anyone tired of recycled FPS mechanics.
This is close to a must-play for fans of rally racing games. However, it's not much different from WRC 9 and doesn't look next-gen.
Samurai Shodown is an excellent, slower-paced fighter that is accessible for both new players and veterans of fighting games.
Far Cry 6 is sure to please long-time series veterans and newcomers alike. It just doesn't break any new ground.
Within the Blade is a decent 2D action-stealth game. If you’re a fan of ninjas and NES-style graphics, you may want to check it out when it’s on sale.
Necromunda: Hired Gun looked promising. It turned out to be a throwback to shooters from the early 2000s with fast-paced gameplay and quick reflexes demanded. I just didn’t find it terribly compelling on virtually any level.
Scarlet Nexus is a really great new IP from Bandai Namco that is hopefully the start of an ongoing franchise.
Biomutant doesn't revolutionize action RPGs, but it's a title that will be worth playing after a few more updates or a price drop.
Outriders isn’t the best game or even the most fun game I’ve ever played, but it is a damn good time. In a world where looter-shooters are often incredibly grindy, Outriders never quite made it feel like it was a grind. It’s a competent, flashy shooter whose campaign overstays its welcome near the end, but it’s a blast to play with friends, who can drop in and out of games at any time.
Days Gone on Steam is a very competent port with lots of options to tailor to your PC. It’s a great game but still suffers from pacing issues, especially early on.
Everybody's Golf is a damn fine golf game that boasts a ton of content, especially for a pretty low price. It's the perfect choice for casual fans and golfing veterans alike.
Neptunia Virtual Stars is rough around the edges, but it's surprisingly fun to play and charming in its own way once you get used to it.
Bonkies is a fairly entertaining co-op game. Just be sure to play with someone who is patient.
Teratopia struggles with basic gameplay design from combat to platforming. For an action-adventure platformer, that’s always a bad sign.
The Medium seemed like one of the more promising games coming to Xbox Series X. Visually, it makes pretty good use of the hardware, and the environments are stunning at times. Unfortunately, poor controls and seriously flawed gameplay design choices hold this back from being the instant classic that it could have been.
Drunken Fist quite obviously does not take itself very seriously, so I am not going to treat it like a regular game. It relies on gimmicks and gags in a similar way as games like Goat Simulator. Once the gimmick wears off – and it will very quickly – there’s not a whole lot here.
WRC 9 is a mighty good time and a great entry point for someone who might not be as familiar with the franchise or racing sims.
Warhammer: Chaosbane Slayer’s Edition is a standard run-of-the-mill dungeon crawler that’s quite similar to Diablo. It features strong combat and good graphics on next-gen consoles, but you retread the same areas way too frequently – so much so that it becomes tiresome.
Super Mario 3D World is the game that the Wii U needed at launch.
