For fans, this is a wild ride of nostalgia but don’t expect it to be the next great spin-off from the franchise. For players outside of the Final Fantasy scene, it’s an okay beat-em-up with laugh-out-loud scenes that might make for an unforgettable weekend.
For Castlevania-like fans, those who have enjoyed past Inti Creates titles, and anyone who enjoys a light-hearted adventure with tough gameplay cannot go wrong with Grim Guardians: Demon Purge.
All in all, Spidersaurs is a by the book run-and-gun game that’s sure to please fans who may feel that there haven’t been enough releases from their favorite franchises.
Despite plenty of room for improvements, Demon Turf is a must-play for fans of 3D platformers.
Before the Switch ports of these games, I didn’t have much interest in No More Heroes 3 or the franchise at all but now I’m eager to see where Travis Touchdown ends up.
Curse of the Moon 2 is more of what made the first game so good. I just think that some sections and design choices really put a dark spot on an otherwise incredible release.
Disintegration brings something unique to the FPS genre and it's a blast to play. I definitely recommend trying it out and I hope to see this idea expanded further with post-launch content or a sequel.
Falcon Age is far from perfect but its charming interactions with the falcon and the fairly easy to understand gameplay makes it an easy recommendation for PSVR owners.
All in all, Blasphemous 2 is a great game of this style... I hope –like the sculptor Montañés– that The Game Kitchen gets to further hone their latest title. There is an amazing game here that’s just shrouded in a thin veil of sawdust. An extra chip here, a little more varnish there, and Blasphemous 2 will captivate many for years to come like its elder.
It’s a fun brain teaser with an extremely fun ending and there are enough options so that just about anyone can finish it. I recommend giving it a go.
Team Sonic Racing won’t stand out as a masterclass entry in the genre but it’s a solid game that many Sonic fans and racing nuts will likely enjoy.
The Knight Witch offers a challenging adventure experience with a refreshing complexity in its story. While the combat could frustrate and overwhelm at times, this game offers a variety of ways to feel empowered and heroic.
The action is fun and the pixel art is awesome but I still don’t feel as excited about Gunvolt 3 as I would have hoped... Criticisms aside, Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is another entry in a large franchise of titles that will surely be enjoyed by fans.
Returnal is a solid game that will hit for roguelike fans especially but might set the barrier for entry too high for those just curious. The PC port pushes the graphical boundaries even further and makes Returnal look breathtaking.
Somerville is a strong IP for Jumpship to begin their portfolio.
Re-Pac sticks to its modest goals of creating a fun modern 3D platformer and dramatically succeeds. If you’re looking to whet your appetite with a relaxing platforming romp you’ll be in for a treat.
Praise aside, I don’t think Death Stranding is a game that I will repeatedly come back to...That said, I am immensely grateful for playing it and I am much more motivated now to play Kojima’s colorful history, especially the Metal Gear Solid series.
I think Isolation could use a sequel. There are plenty of great ideas and the presentation was mostly on point.
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is a decently good time. It offers more challenge than I expected but not so much so that it becomes frustrating. The original cast, the successful visual conversion to 3D, and the suitable story all come together to create one of the best tie-in games I’ve ever played.
Even among the never-ending mountain of shooters available these days, Trepang2 stands out by being a loud and mysterious endeavor that doubly rewards those committed to learning its ways. It’s an adrenaline-fueled roller coaster that is a ton of fun to play.
