Forever Classic Games's Reviews

While I’ve grown fond of Ryza and her companions over the course of the past few games, I’m pleased to consider Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key a proper send-off for the characters we’ve come to know and love.

Like a Dragon: Ishin is a historically-rooted drama with enough to explore to keep players busy and there are not many experiences like it. This series is unique and absolutely worth trying. Ishin is also a pretty solid entry point to an extremely unique series but it might be too serious for some.

While not a perfect entry, Fire Emblem Engage is a fantastic celebration of a series that has come so far.

Resident Evil 4 VR is a must-have for Meta Quest owners. The game plays surprisingly well on the Meta Quest 2 headset and it captures the feel of RE4 in a way that respects the original while also adding enough elements to entice players of previous versions.

8 / 10.0 - Evil West

Evil West is unapologetically a game about gruff gunslingers ripping through gross nightmare monsters and that is exactly why I like playing games.

8 / 10.0 - Lunistice
Dec 16, 2022

While I have my gripes with some of Lunistice’s design choices, it's ultimately a wonderful indie platformer with lots of character. As someone who grew up in the age of early 3D games, and arguably the golden age of platformers, Lunstice is a loving tribute to those simpler times.

8 / 10.0 - Immortality
Dec 5, 2022

This title is a rare form of film and game melded together in such a creative way. Because this game plays so simply, there really isn’t much that goes wrong here. If you enjoy a self-paced investigation experience with little hand-holding, make sure to check out Immortality.

If Mario Strikers: Battle League is going to thrive, it'll be in the competitive scene and with friends gathered around laughing and having a good time, and sometimes that's all you need.

Yes, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a fairly average game that reflects years of design tropes. Yet, the game’s commitment to narrative, characters, visual design, and music results in a surprisingly rewarding experience.

Weird ending aside, Age of Calamity is one of the best Musou crossover games ever made. This game really does capture the visuals and sound that made Breath of the Wild special, it just lacks the somber tone that defined a generation.

I really enjoyed my time with Vigil: The Longest Night, and I hope to further explore the secrets of this dark world. This game punches above its weight class and I think as the game is improved with patches and hopefully more DLC it will become a genre favorite.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Nintendo Switch is not the best way to play this emotional, magical adventure but it is an impressive feat of engineering that mostly works well.

8 / 10.0 - Hotshot Racing

I was surprised by how much I liked Hotshot Racing. It’s not normally my type of game but I had a lot of fun with it on the Nintendo Switch. I think that those that enjoy arcade racers should definitely check it out.

Blasphemous is beautiful. Soaked in blood and covered in grime, it is clear that so much effort and vision was put into this game.

With the interesting theme of robots trying to care for a creature they don't really understand in a hostile world, Void Terrarium has a wider appeal than most dungeon crawlers and I can recommend it to those looking for something just a little different, especially so if this genre seems hard to get into.
