What’s brilliant is any explorer in Gemea can simply choose to farm, complete quests, seek sprites to defeat the Murk, or all of the above! Though it has its flaws, Yonder blossoms wonderfully through its blend of familiar visuals and mechanics most gamers have already come to love, and then opens its world even more for players of different tastes to get comfortable and play how they want. This is definitely one cloud worth catching.
Dragon’s Crown Pro is a gorgeous looking game, despite its exaggerated illustrations. Even if no new content has been added to this new version, players will enjoy the updated 4K resolution and the fact that they can transfer their game data from previous games and continue where they left off. Those who haven’t yet played this arcade-style adventure no longer have an excuse to wait. Add this crown to your collection immediately.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition returns with a massive amount of content that’ll bring in new and returning players. The platforming is smooth, the character designs and the world are incredibly detailed, and the gameplay is a blast. Without a doubt, this ultimate edition will leave everyone smiling and shaking those hips.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is a definite upgrade from its predecessor, if you haven’t played the original, don’t let it steer you away from wanting to help Dorothy on her adventure. It’s an entertaining indie game that will keep players digging for a long time.
Fe is an unique-styled game that lets you explore to your heart’s content and will test your problem-solving skills. If you enjoy a dialogue-less game with no guidance, Fe is the right game for you.
Night in the Woods is a powerful, story-driven game that shows that not all games need action if you have strong characters and fun mini-games. Oh and beating up a furnace with a bat is fun, too.
Penny-Punching Princess provides a great amount of replayability, as each mission can be replayed any number of times to capture more monsters, find a missed treasure, or to get a better grade. Backtracking and replaying previous missions is required to create stronger armor to proceed, so be prepared for a bit of grinding to capture enough monsters. The music fits each environment and scene well, from the melodic piano to hard guitar riffs perfectly matches each setting of this game. While some may be turned off by the amount of grinding and somewhat repetitive gameplay, a story this hilarious, gameplay very tight, and the difficulty curve puuuurfect, Penny-Punching Princess is very worthy of a 4.5 out of 5.
Overall, Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology is a time-twistingly fun RPG with an engaging battle system and a few odd quirks. It’s the most perfect version we’ll get…unless Atlus announces something for the Nintendo Switch.
Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King is a strong indie game that’ll entertain you with its amusing dialogue, pawesome soundtrack, and stimulating gameplay. 2D Zelda fans will want to journey as Lily.
The Gentlebros left a lot of doors open for downloadable content (DLC) and a potential sequel. The game hints at many possibilities involving dogs, mice, and secrets between the Dragonblood and dragons, but that’ll be up to the Gentlebros on how big they want to make this. I, for one, would like to see expansions made to the game and continue the story of the silent hero. Cat Quest is a purrtastic game that deserves your attention and belongs in your gaming library, especially if you enjoy pawesome indie games.
Ghost of Tsushima is a beautiful and satisfying game. While it doesn’t feel like a revelation in innovation, it’s an improvement of existing models. We’ve already experienced the joys of the open world concept, but Ghost takes everything we’re familiar with and does it better.
It’s great when a franchise is brought back from the dead, and done right. Many thanks to the people at Activision and Vicarious Visions, for treating this property with respect, and giving us a great game. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran, or picking this series up for the first time, with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, you’re sure to have a blast grinding rails and pretending you’re a Superman.
It’s clear that the main purpose of the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends DLC was for co-op, as the main game improvements are a little underwhelming. However, it’s difficult to complain, given that this DLC was completely free and that the co-op gameplay is stellar. Hopefully, we can expect more story-driven DLC in the future for Ghost of Tsushima.
Bugsnax is an interesting, well written, and whimsical adventure. Even if the game is pretty short, it’s a delicious game for players to start catching the Bugsnax vibe.
Overall, Hades slays expectations, providing an immersive, rogue-like experience filled with endless hours of gameplay. While dungeon crawling may not be for everyone, it is a well-designed and well-polished game for those who love it. Each run offers a unique experience, and the progression from meek to a godly warrior is enjoyable. Between the unique narrative, the vibrant colors and artwork, and the smooth gameplay, dying repeatedly has never felt so good.
The Pedestrian is a unique and creatively designed puzzle game that shouldn’t be missed. Even if the journey is short, travelling by signage while listening to a relaxing soundtrack is the one of the most fun ways of getting around a city (outside of pedal pubs). Sign up for this trip, puzzle fans.
With Ys IX: Monstrum NOX, Nihon Falcom continues its streak of creating fascinating worlds. Adol’s newest adventure, revolving around a mysterious prison in a single city, may sound like it’s small, but it offers layers of gameplay. With its various battle types, character abilities, collecting, and a rockin’ soundtrack, RPG fans will want to slash, fly, and scamper their way through Balduq, uncovering all its secrets. Whether you’re a veteran to the Ys series or a newcomer, the Crimson King awaits.
Kaze and the Wild Masks is an entertaining indie game that pays tribute to classic ‘90s platformers. Although it pushes players to be precise with their movements and its difficulty is inconsistent, it’s a hidden gem that shouldn’t be forgotten. Mask up, everyone!
Overall, Blaster Master Zero 3 is a fitting conclusion to the series and an impressive tribute to retro platformers.
TOEM: A Photo Adventure is an entertaining and fun indie game with neat camera-based mechanics and quirky characters. Dozens of photos will be taken throughout the journey, but by the end, it still feels too early to put the camera away. Still, no matter how short the experience, your album of good memories awaits.
