Cat with Monocle's Reviews

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is an entertaining game for fans of the franchise. Even though those who have already played the 2009 original won’t see any gameplay or graphical improvements, this is still the best, most authentic Ghostbusters experience by far (outside of living in the corner penthouse of Spook Central).

Demon Slayer: Sweep the Board! is a fun interactive board game that fans of the series can enjoy. However, an underwhelming amount of mini games and restrictive issues online prevent it from competing at the top of the genre. Even so, this game is worth a roll.

Pretty Girls Rivers is one of the better puzzle games offered by EastAsiaSoft and is recommended to those who enjoy mahjong solitaire. Unfortunately, there’s not enough content to satisfy players for too long. Still, clear the pile and make room for this one, puzzle lovers.

Gal*Gun Double Peace, despite the overflow of lewdness and some frustrating rail shooting, has a nice set of interesting characters and multiple endings that offer a decent amount of replay value. It’s also just a fun little guilty pleasure, so take aim and find your true love.

3.8 / 5.0 - Rune Factory 5
Apr 4, 2022

Rune Factory 5 takes a big step going all 3D, but it stumbles a bit with framerate issues and uninspiring textures. However, the game’s cast of characters, inclusion of same-sex marriages, and barnful of gameplay value mean players shouldn’t pass this up. The farming life is a decent life, indeed.

Overall, Diablo II: Resurrected is an impressive facelift of the original games with some fantastic quality-of-life improvements added in. The remastered solo play is quite impressive on the Switch, even given the existing hardware limitations. Unfortunately, the current issues with matchmaking, community size, and servers on the Switch are a huge blemish on the experience due to the grinding nature of solo play, but those can be resolved in time and earn higher marks as a result. The game can still provide one hell of an experience for those who prefer solo action or for folks using it for cross-platform progression while traveling. Purge this land of shadow, and may the light guide your way.

Disgaea 6 is the best in the series when it comes to its new gameplay features such as easier grinding and quests, as well as its comical script. However, the performance issues on the Nintendo Switch starts to show its age hold it back from becoming the best overall. Still, don’t let that stop you from owning this over-the-top RPG. Your Nintendo Switch library will get a serious punch to the throat!

3.8 / 5.0 - Godfall
Jan 27, 2021

Godfall drives home the dungeon crawl mantra on an unfortunately small scale, content wise. It does, however, boast a fun, albeit different, combat system, mountains of monsters, exciting minibosses, and actual boss fights. Godfall as a whole is a beautiful example of what can be accomplished through the glory of stunning environments, combat and gear. It offers different players different ways of playing, edging them all together into one cohesive, god-killing machine. All in all, it largely depends on the gamer themselves. Can you commit to grinding a would-be god out of existence?

3.8 / 5.0 - Very Very Valet
Jun 7, 2021

Overall, Very Very Valet is a fun addition to the increasingly crowded co-op arena. The core gameplay is unique and interesting even if aspects like its driving controls and the chaos that ends each level on the default difficulty take some getting used to. Fortunately, the difficulty can be adjusted so that friends and family of all skill levels can pick up and play. So park your rear on the couch and have a very very good time!

3.8 / 5.0 - Wargroove
Dec 4, 2020

Overall, although certain aspects of Wargroove can be a bit limited, the gameplay is engaging, and that’s what counts. The new missions and objectives will keep both new and more seasoned gamers on their toes. Either way, look forward to many hours of tactical gameplay. Your characters may not level up in that time, but your problem solving skills most definitely will.

Overall, Raji: An Ancient Epic offers plenty of action and an interesting story in a sublimely beautiful world enriched by Indian and Balinese culture. It’s too bad the combat can be a bit repetitive and the camera gets in the way so much. Still, it is an enjoyable experience, even if it might not stand the test of time.

4 / 5.0 - Lords of Exile

Lords of Exile is a blast of the past and feels like a spiritual successor to the original Castlevania. It looks and plays like the popular title, including those cheap knock-back deaths. It’s another hidden gem you’ll want to pick up. Draw your blade and take revenge!
