8.5 / 10.0 - Harold Halibut
Apr 18, 2024

Harold Halibut is not a game for everyone. The pace is slow, especially at the beginning, and the many trips back and forth between stations often seem very long. On the other hand, if you're a fan of narrative adventures like me, and enjoy discovering highly-developed characters, this is a very nice surprise. Slow Bros. succeeded in transporting me into its unique-looking universe and absorbing me completely.

8 / 10.0 - Pepper Grinder
Apr 12, 2024

Pepper Grinder is exactly why I'm now more interested in independent games than AAA. The idea of a simple mechanic that is extremely well exploited during a complete game appeals to me more than superior graphics or a never-ending story. Mind you, I'm not saying one is better than the other, but the important thing in any case is to pay attention to the little details and have fun. And that's exactly what I had with Pepper Grinder. A more than enjoyable adventure, a quality time and a final impression good enough for me to recommend it to those around me. And I think that's what makes a game a good game.

8.5 / 10.0 - Turbo Kid
Apr 10, 2024

Turbo Kid (the game) is the perfect adaptation inspired by Turbo Kid (the movie). I couldn't have imagined a different gameplay style, graphics, color palette and soundtrack to represent the universe depicted in the original work.

7 / 10.0 - Last Epoch
Apr 6, 2024

All in all, Last Epoch is a decent experience, but nothing more. We particularly appreciate the customization of our characters' abilities and the management of the numerous upgrade systems. On the other hand, the game never manages to shake off the impression of déjà vu it leaves us with. The insipid narrative and its generic bestiary, but above all the game's inability to make us feel competent and powerful, mar our desire to play again. Both in the short and long term.

8 / 10.0 - Berserk Boy
Apr 6, 2024

Berserk Boy is a love letter to games like Mega Man Zero and ZX, as well as to similar games of the time. The pixelated yet highly detailed aesthetics and art direction behind the sets and characters are an incredible and much appreciated tribute. There's no shortage of action, and despite its forgettable writing, short duration (6 to 8 hours) and times when difficulty may be uneven, it remains a game that absolutely must be played.

Princess Peach: Showtime! is an excellent game for someone new to the world of video games. Although the game is aimed primarily at a youth audience, I can also see how someone who plays very little will enjoy the experience (without naming Joanie directly!). The game has a nice proposition and enough variety, but a lifespan that doesn't explain the high price tag. But if you're an avid gamer with years of gaming under your belt, it's highly likely that the adventures of our princess won't be enough to keep your interest for very long.

8 / 10.0 - MLB The Show 24
Mar 26, 2024

MLB The Show 24 offers a slightly more complete experience than recent releases, with the addition of an all-female chapter for its career mode. And the Storylines mode offers even more content than before, mixing the real and virtual worlds. This is clearly the direction in which the SIE San Diego team needs to move in order to maximise the variety of the experience. For its part, the modification of defensive phases is interesting, but remains rather timid. Not to mention that the classic modes offer very little that's new. My main recommendation is for those who may have missed out on last year's edition.

Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator is a realistic simulation of the life of a cab driver. You can explore a marvellous model of the city of Barcelona. Unfortunately, the experience is not without its problems. Handling requires a number of adjustments in order to be enjoyable, while the artificial intelligence creates a real sense of frustration. Missions also remain, for the moment, rather repetitive and offer very little variety. Perhaps I'd advise you to wait for future updates before embarking on your new career.

8.5 / 10.0 - Rise of the Ronin
Mar 21, 2024

Rise of the Ronin may not become the benchmark game of this generation, but it offers a more than interesting experience. The title offers a combat system that is difficult to master, and which should satisfy even the most demanding players. Neophytes, meanwhile, are not left out in the cold, as the game remains very accessible, whether through cooperative play or the ability to choose the difficulty level at any time. All in all, the story of this period plunges the player into an entertaining adventure that blends numerous genres to our great delight, despite a few minor flaws.

United Penguin Kingdom offers an alternative to the usual management games, notably with its colorful, out-of-the-ordinary art direction. The basis for an adventure of this kind is well established, and the developers have also added a few interesting ideas to stand out from the crowd. Nevertheless, the title is a little slow to get going, and its interface is not necessarily accessible to less experienced players.

So, what do we think of Tomb Raider I-II-III Remastered? It's a mixed bag. On the one hand, we can't overlook the achievement of making a long-standing series approachable. But we'd have liked to see more action. Concrete gestures that would have improved gameplay. Because nostalgia sells, let's face it. But if you want to stay with it, and even better, bring in new players, this compilation won't do it.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a great success that met my expectations, even though they were very high. It's impressive to see how the developers have managed to integrate the open-world aspect while modernizing it. What's more, the quantity and quality of the secondary activities make discovering the universe more fun than ever. And it's all done naturally, allowing us to constantly improve our team. Last but not least, everything complements the excellent story, which will leave no one indifferent. It's definitely a contender for Game of the Year, honoring the excellence of the original work.

9 / 10.0 - Cocoon
Mar 18, 2024

we regret not having discovered Cocoon at the same time as the rest of the industry last September. However, it's not too late, which is why it recently made our list of great discoveries on the Nintendo Switch. This is an excellent first title for the Geometric Interactive studio, and we'll definitely continue to follow Jeppe Carlsen and his team in the future.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game offers a similar experience to its predecessors, without offering anything identical. In fact, by taking the player a little more by the hand, the title is without doubt the most accessible in the series. Not to mention that the team at Saber Interactive have done a near-perfect job on the technical front. There are currently around 100 hours of content, and plenty of DLC is also planned to add missions. However, the title may not appeal to older players who lose a certain sense of freedom. Not to mention that the overall experience remains very similar.

Metal Gear Solid Vol. 1 Master Collection slips into a game library like a good old book at home. It's necessary, even essential, to ensure that the great titles of the last few decades are still playable today.

7 / 10.0 - Kona II: Brume
Mar 7, 2024

Without being perfect, this game is a good recommendation for people who like mysterious stories where exploration is at the heart of its point-and-click mechanics. The atmosphere is strange, without being a horror game. It's just well balanced.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake offers a modern take on a video game classic. Although the changes are few and far between, Avantgarden Games has shown great respect for the original game. The use of the new graphics engine makes it even easier to immerse yourself in this touching story, while marvelling at the scenery. The adventure remains fairly short, but the retail price is far from excessive. I particularly recommend the game for those who didn't have the chance to play it back then, or for those who wish to repeat the experience in co-op.

8.5 / 10.0 - Helldivers II
Feb 26, 2024

After an impressive start to the year with Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the momentum continues. Helldivers 2 is incredibly fun, action-packed and full of highlights. You'll have the time of your life with the soldiers you meet on your adventures. Battlefields will be filled with scenes worthy of the best cinematics, and memories will be made. While Helldivers I wasn't as successful as Helldivers II, it's good to see that this one has been a hit since its release. Now we'll just have to see what the future holds. Because between you and me, Helldivers 2 could easily take the top spot in terms of hours spent on a game this year. It's enough to keep my interest renewed on a fairly regular basis. So it's in the studio's hands to stay relevant at all times. But for now, the game is fantastic. And that's what I'll remember in the end. Long live democracy!

Bandle Tale is not a game of immense depth, but remains a good distraction between big action titles. If you're into cozy games like Animal Crossing or Spirit Farer, you'll easily find what you're looking for. If you're looking for a little more excitement, however, you'll be disappointed.

6 / 10.0 - Skull and Bones
Feb 20, 2024

Clearly, Skull and Bones has suffered from years of development and numerous changes of direction. The handling of the ships is well done, but everything around them is much less so. The in-game phases are very repetitive, and boarding and pillaging are nothing more than identical cinematics. The very principle of the experience is to go back and forth until you reach the end of the main campaign. Not to mention that the technology is not worthy of a game marketed in 2024 at this price.
