Ghostrunner 2 is a must-play action game that expertly blends fast-paced action with smooth parkour gameplay. Its stunning art direction, memorable antagonists, and engaging upgrade system add up to an experience that meaningfully builds on the original. The undercooked semi-open world sections and stuttering issues on PC get in the way of perfection, but this is a worthy sequel that never loses steam throughout its thoroughly entertaining campaign.
Hellboy Web of Wyrd is a faithful recreation of Mike Mignola's world, and Lance Reddick does an incredible job voicing everyone's favorite cambion. Despite its excellent presentation and world-building, Web of Wyrd has numerous issues with its combat design which feels basic and dull, never evolving throughout its campaign. The roguelite elements aren't fully realized and feel unrewarding with bonuses that feel largely passive. It's clear that there is a lot of love for comics here, and it's certainly worth checking out if you want another Hellboy adventure, but the combat annoyances and camera issues make it a bit hard to recommend.
The Jackbox Party Pack 10 may not be Jack's best attempt at the party pack in recent times, but there is still fun to be had if you have a friend group size of 4 people and are a fan of the drawing and rhythm games. However, we hope that Party Pack 11 can offer slightly better games.
Sonic Superstars is a fantastic return to the 2D Sonic series and offers a wealth of content and playable characters, all wrapped up in a pristine package that's easy on the eyes, wonderful to play with enough replayability to last you a while.
Detective Pikachu Returns is a fun game that is brimming with personality, a memorable cast of characters, and a familiar setting that is somehow new again. Unfortunately, it's held back by a menial playtime with no replay value and a very predictable plot, but that doesn't take away from enjoying the world of Detective Pikachu Returns.
Forza Motorsport is a thrilling racing simulator that offers something to both beginners and veterans alike. It throws you into the world of professional racing and makes you fall in love with it. The sheer variety of vehicles, and racetracks paired with extensive customization make it the finest entry in the series yet. It's one of the best-looking games on the market with every vehicle beautifully rendered in ridiculous detail. If you're looking for a title to drive down the rabbit hole of racing sims, there is no better place to start, especially with its focus on accessibility and onboarding.
Boti Byteland Overclocked is a fun, cute, and educational 3D platformer. Jump, dash, glide, and beat things that are in your way as you strive to save Byteland from impending doom. It is a solid debut from Purple Ray Studio.
Lies of P does enough to stand out in a sea of soulslike imitators, and its weapon assembly system adds a layer of customization that is a lot of fun to play around with. Its solid presentation, rewarding exploration, and twisted world-building make it an easy game to recommend if you can ignore some caveats tied to its parrying and lack of poise.
Party Animals is a lot of fun, and it innovates in multiple unique ways to stand out and keep the genre fresh. There are tons of game modes to try out, and the superb presentation and customization keep things fresh. While it can be played alone, the real fun comes with friends.
Armored Core 6 is a fantastic action title that is demanding and rewarding in equal parts. It encourages players to get creative with their builds by offering endless customization, and an accessible economy system where nothing is really lost. With stunning art direction, and memorable voice acting, FromSoftware has revived its action franchise with an uncompromising entry that feels modern and offers a feature-rich experience with tons of replayability.
WrestleQuest is a love letter to the 80s and 90s era of pro wrestling. The wonderful presentation, memorable soundtrack, and charming characters add up to a fun experience that has a lot of heart, even if the immediate story is a bit lackluster. The key thing holding it back is the overuse of QTEs which become downright annoying at times. Overall though, WrestleQuest does more right than wrong and there is a lot to like despite its rough edges.
Kentucky Route Zero is a fantastic story that took 7 years to tell, 12 hours to play, and will forever be one of my favorite point-and-click adventure games for a long while. It's rare for a game like this to captivate players with its deep characters, and excellent presentation and it does so brilliantly.
Shadow Gambit The Cursed Crew is an exceptional stealth strategy game with a staggering amount of depth, variety, and creativity. Each crew member can radically change how you tackle different objectives and the increasing sandbox challenges force you think outside the box. It's Mimimi Games' best title yet, and there is a lot to love here with dozens of hours of meaningful content to sink your teeth into.
En Garde! is a really fun action game full of heart that rewards skillful play, and mastery of its mechanics. Adalia is a charming protagonist, and her unmatched wit cripples her opponents as she kicks, parries, and dodges her way through a series of hilarious episodes. The beautiful presentation, varied levels, and excellent pacing add up to a solid adventure worth taking. The boss fights are a bit disappointing due to the reliance on mobs, but En Garde! does way more right than wrong.
Moving Out 2 is a fleshed-out party game that packs a lot of heart and spirit into what a sequel should be. It offers a lot of engaging features and mechanics to test your "moving" ability and improves upon an already great game even further. If you have any friends who enjoy cooperative games, this is a must-buy, but it's hard to recommend if you want to go it alone.
Stray Gods does stray from the path of its competitors by doing a lot of new and unique things and it does so with pride. With a great cast of voice actors, a memorable story, and a unique dialogue system, the game truly stands out in the genre. However, the lack of ability for players to explore the world on their own outside of a static scene feels awkward at times, particularly when the world looks stunning.
Venba is a beautiful cooking game that emphasizes the meaning of family, culture, and tradition. It's a game that will hit home for many who had to make the difficult choice of moving away from home, and one where you might shed a tear at the end.
Sticky Business is a great cozy store management game where you have the freedom to test out your creativity by designing your own stickers. The charming customers in-game have their own personalities and it's hard not to develop a connection with them. This is a must-have especially if you're a Twitch streamer as you can play this game to bond with your viewers.
Remnant 2 is one of the best co-op experiences you can have right now, and it improves on the original in every single way. Its satisfying mix of melee and ranged combat, memorable boss fights full of creativity, tons of enemy variety scattered in each biome and excellent presentation make it Gunfire Games' best title to date.
Maquette is a brilliant yet short adventure that is well worth a visit if you have Game Pass. Great story through strong visuals, great voice acting, music, and some good puzzle mechanics delivers a great package of emotions.
