Boti: Byteland Overclocked is an enjoyable and simple retro-inspired platformer with plenty of collect-a-thon features that are all too welcome. But it's only an enjoyable experience when it works, and after level three, it's a coin flip on whether it does.
No aspect of Boti: Byteland Overclocked impressed me in any way, and many left me wanting to quit. It is a tough sell for any platforming enthusiast.
Ultimately I’m a bit torn on Boti: Byteland Overclocked. On one hand, it’s gorgeous and charming, but it’s gameplay and the myriad of bugs I ran into really soured the experience. On the other hand, Boti is still fun to play and I wouldn’t mind going back for the collectibles and a hundred percent run in the future.
The plot, despite the slight chaos, is enjoyable, and the characters greatly add to the charm of the production. The graphics are aesthetically pleasing and full of eye-pleasing animations. Unfortunately, the game has its flaws, such as annoying repetitive bots issues and limited depth of gameplay. Levels, although nicely designed, can get boring after a while, and the variety of enemies is practically non-existent. Technical problems such as poor optimization and instability, especially in online co-op mode, are also worth noting. Nevertheless, if the developers undertake improvements, Boti could become an enjoyable platformer for the whole family.

Boti: Byteland Overclocked is a colorful 3D platformer that looks back to the platformers of the past. The levels are colorful, you jump and puzzle a lot and you can collect many objects. The robot Boti controls nicely and you can discover the levels with a beautiful soundtrack in the background. It is therefore a shame that the game fails, especially on a technical level. Your GPU is working overtime and various elements in the game just lack the finishing touch that jumping and fighting have. If these elements had been in order, we would really have had a highly recommended one here. In its current state, the game unfortunately remains average.
