I enjoyed my time with the “Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour”. For around eight hours, I played my way through various mini-games and tech demos and learned lots of exciting things about the Switch 2 and Nintendo's past. It's a shame that the game feels artificially stretched out with unspectacular mini-games, annoying collecting tasks and boring quizzes despite its short playing time. If you're not interested in the technical intricacies of the console, deduct another star from the rating and give this paid tutorial a wide berth.

I will remember “Berserk or Die” not for its design, but for its unique controls. The fact that I can control the strength and distance of my attacks by pressing several keys on the keyboard at the same time draws me incredibly into the game.

I can understand the critical voices surrounding “Nightreign”. Although I also have experienced enough frustration with the game myself due to the overwhelming start and the lack of options in multiplayer, the familiar “Souls” feeling still gripped me in the end.

“Deliver at all Costs” is a bold indie debut that isn't afraid to be loud, chaotic and delightfully over-the-top. The mixture of retro aesthetics, physics-based slapstick and satirical story makes the game a fun experience - at least for a short while. Because behind the flashy surface lies a gameplay loop that quickly becomes repetitive.

"Pixelshire" had the potential to be a charming life simulation. But the awkward controls, counterintuitive game mechanics and confusing presentation are annoying. On top of that, the illogical story is devoid of any real substance. This makes virtual life in “Pixelshire” a real test of patience instead of a cozy experience.

The mixture of off-road exploration, road building and logging makes “Roadcraft” a very relaxing and potentially addictive experience. I often found myself wanting to lay the foundations of a road “just for a moment”, only to have paved a complete road two hours later.

“Void Sails” is a playable book with space ships in the Cthulhu Mythos. An absurd mixture that is both captivating and cozy at the same time.

“SpreadCheat” is a Sudoku-like puzzle game with a lot of 90s charm. In terms of gameplay, it is unspectacular and not very challenging. However, the crude humor kept me entertained during the short playing time.

“Doom: The Dark Ages” doesn't reinvent the wheel. I get exactly what I expect from the series. Frenetic action against snarling demons. If there's one thing I'd like to see in the next installment, it's a return to horror. Because this Doom Slayer definitely doesn't know fear.

“Darfall” is not a masterpiece — but a game with character. It brings a familiar but effective mix of base building, survival, tower defense and a touch of action RPG to the screen. However, it still lacks depth in terms of content. The maps and enemy types offer too little variety to keep me hooked in the long term.

“Promise Mascot Agency” is a ‘love it or hate it’ game. The strange gameplay mix completely captivated me. The constant switching between driving around the cursed city of Kaso-Machi, managing the mascot agency and the thrilling crime background story kept me glued to the controller. I am also fascinated by the unique atmosphere, which impresses with its surreal charm, quirky characters and a superb soundtrack.

“Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” is a masterpiece and shows how role-playing games with turn-based battles can still feel fresh in 2025. It is very likely to be my JRPG of the year.

“Lost Records: Bloom & Rage” is the first game in this genre since "Life is Strange" that has captivated me so much with its story.

There has never been anything quite like “Blue Prince”. The game combines “Myst”, Escape Rooms, “The Crazy Labyrinth” and roguelike elements into a fascinating addictive package. Day by day, room by room, I delve deeper into the world of Mount Holly Mansion. Everything puzzle/roguelike-game that comes after it will have to measure up to this magnum opus. For me, it is already the game of the year.

I love JRPGs. So I should also love “SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered”. However, I have developed something of a love-hate relationship with the game. The world's visuals and acoustics are unique, I absolutely love them. But I really struggle with the game's confusing story, vaguely explained combat system and unbalanced difficulty. I can therefore recommend “SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered” primarily to hardcore fans of the genre or fans of the franchise who are already familiar with its quirks.

The playable fairy tale “South of Midnight” impresses above all with its audiovisual presentation. The southern atmosphere is perfectly captured with a detailed art style and interactive soundtrack. Narratively, the game works particularly well in the small story vignettes about the various mythical creatures from southern folklore. In terms of gameplay, however, the game disappoints with its conservative level design and monotonous battles. These stand in stark contrast to the otherwise loving and creative execution.

“The Darkest Files” is a haunting, narrative investigation adventure which deals courageously and seriously with a dark chapter of German history: the legal investigation of National Socialist crimes in West Germany in the 1950s. The game approaches this sensitive topic with the necessary seriousness, without lapsing into pathos or simplification. The narrative always stays credible, supported by realistic characters, genuine historical references and a palpable moral urgency. It deliberately dispenses with classic entertainment elements and instead focuses on emotional depth, historical accuracy and a quiet but intense presentation.

If you are into horror games and like the works of George Orwell, David Lynch or Hideo Kojima, “Karma: The Dark World” is a must for you. The world is disturbing and oppressive. The horror is not heavy-handed with jump scare after jump scare, but subtle and always surprising. It's not monsters that scare me — although they do exist — but the human psyche.
