Critic Reviews for Starfield: Shattered Space

While its new environments are a decent aside, Shattered Space seems largely content to tread water, leaving Starfield the same mixed bag it always was.

Starfield's Shattered Space expansion is weighed down by bugs and is ultimately a disappointment compared to the base game.

Starfield's Shattered Space expansion ably fills in the Va'ruun-shaped hole in the main campaign, but doesn't shatter conventions with new abilities that would make a replay more exciting.

Shattered Space takes advantage of the latest additions to Starfield to create a great adventure full of new content on a mysterious planet to explore, either on foot or at the wheel of our vehicle. The Va'ruun house becomes an exceptional protagonist of a new political plot in which we will have to choose once again our path in the stars. New content, allies, secondary missions and factions put the icing on a cake that more than fulfills as an expansion

Shattered Space is just more of what Starfield couldn’t deliver. Although its focused, single-location experience and engaging quests provide a refreshing change, its overall lackluster quality proves that no updates or expansions can truly transform Starfield. While moments of brilliance remain, and Shattered Space does add some memorable moments to the pile, it's a DLC that ensures that Starfield doesn't go out with a bang like a Supernova, but rather fades into the vacuum of space without so much as a whimper.

Yes, this is “more Starfield,” a game I liked, but I am very disappointed in the way it has barely evolved a year later, and the best thing about is Bethesda going back to a Bethesda-like zone structure. That’s good, but also feels very inauthentic to what the game was supposed to be. This is not going to convert anyone, nor may it satisfy many veterans. I did get some pretty screenshots, though.

An expansion that will not attract new players. Those who loved the main game could gain some entertainment from Shattered Space, but it's hard to give high praise for minimum effort.

The exact opposite of what Starfield needed, with a DLC expansion that magnifies the parent game's failings and sidelines its more positive elements.
