An approachable extraction shooter for newcomers to the genre that's let down by its monetization features.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a home run swing at something new. It makes crucial compromises to get there, but the end result is unforgettable.
But on the other hand, the beat ‘em up fan in me is disappointed with how the game turned out. The lack of character progression or variety really drags the game down, and doesn’t give you much reason to replay it – which is unfortunate considering it’s only two hours long and costs $10 more than its contemporaries.
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is no fool’s gold, and the only pitfalls you’ll need to watch out for are those the game has laid deliberately. Developer MachineGames has delivered not just a love letter to the original movies, but a rip-roaring serial adventure that can stand proudly beside its elders in the archives.
While it's an unusual choice for a family-friendly spin-off, there's undeniable character to Lego Horizon Adventures that goes further than I expected.
Veilguard is BioWare going back to its roots: a single-player, story-driven RPG with a scrappy hero and the people they meet along the way... Veilguard has rectified all of my dislike for its predecessor, massively improving everything...
[Metaphor ReFantazio] perfectly balances its weighty, philosophical pondering on the nature of utopia and social progress, with playful and silly team-building moments with your pals.
[Sonic x Shadow Generations] brings the 2011 game Sonic Generations back for a new audience to enjoy, while introducing just enough content for long-time Sonic fans to justify returning to a game that came out over 10 years ago.
Thanks to a stellar selection of boards and a mix of both motion and traditional mini-games, Super Mario Party Jamboree stands as the best of the series’ three Switch outings.
I never knew I needed to see the Namek saga unravel on Earth instead of Planet Namek until I experienced it for myself. I was left smiling like a little kid and laughing because it was so much fun to see these alternate situations play out.
In recent years, survival horror fans have been spoiled with multiple stellar remakes of older Resident Evil games. And their success will have no doubt piled even more pressure on Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake. Yet against all the odds, a modern classic appears to have emerged from the developmental fog.
It’s taken 38 years for Zelda to take the reins as protagonist in the game series that bears her name, but it was worth the wait.
I understand that EA FC is a yearly game series, and that is going to come with limitations. That said, people are paying full price for these changes, and we just don’t get enough here. Ultimate Team has a few quality of life changes, and the new Rush mode is good fun, but again, the fun comes from you – the game is just a sandbox for your imagination.
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a stellar 3D platformer with a deep, engaging storyline that made me genuinely care about its characters and what happens to them.
Funko Fusion has a lot of the fundamentals down, with large, varied environments, destructible objects, different character loadouts to suit various play styles and tastes, a slew of hidden collectibles to gather, and tons of playable characters to unlock. But, it doesn’t reach its full potential, with awkward weapon aiming and a “try it and see” mentality that doesn’t quite work in a game with this much going on.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has reminded me of all the things I loved about the original...while prettying up some of its scuffed edges.
The Plucky Squire’s pages are filled with moments of delight...The sketched world of crayon colors is gorgeously charming.
There are still plenty of improvements to be made, but there's also no doubt that NBA 2K25 is one of the best games in the sports genre at the moment.
Astro Bot can be carried by its whimsical joy alone. A wonderful little adventure for a wonderful little bot.
[I]f you have even the slightest beat of a cantina drum in your heart, then Outlaws is the [game] you have been waiting for. To walk around and have your own adventure in a galaxy far, far away. What a treat.
