EA Sports FC 24 isn't the revolution expected with the name change; it's more like FIFA 23 with a new name and menu graphics, and minimal updates across the board. The gameplay remains largely the same: realistic and satisfying offline, chaotic online. Ultimate Team hasn't changed, Club and Volta are sidelined, and only Career mode has made some progress. The main issue, as with many sports games today, is justifying the annual €80 entry fee.

Bud Spencer & Terence Hill – Slaps and Beans 2 is a side-scrolling beat 'em up that entertains fans of Carlo Pedersoli and Mario Girotti's legendary films. Unfortunately, Trinity Team focused only on fans of the movies, missing the opportunity to attract a broader audience of beat 'em up enthusiasts with a bit more effort.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a typical Assassin’s Creed game, blending familiar storytelling with moments of entertaining gameplay and some tedious parts. It will please fans who wanted a return to the series' roots, especially with its €50 launch price. However, it also shows that the franchise might benefit more from looking toward the future.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is a successful sequel that carries the series' legacy forward. Unfortunately, Frozenbyte hasn't addressed historical flaws, but in terms of puzzle/platforming, it's one of the best, whether in single-player or co-op.

Saying that The Crew Motorfest has finally found its identity by mimicking another series might seem absurd, but it's true. It feels like a Forza Horizon chapter in all but name. While not reaching Forza Horizon 5's excellence, it's a great alternative for PlayStation players seeking a similar racing arcade experience.

Starfield is a 100% Bethesda RPG whose only real flaw is being too anchored to past game design elements instead of looking forward. Despite some limitations, it's a vast game offering hundreds of hours of gameplay with well-established mechanics and a captivating narrative that keeps players engaged even beyond the credits.

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of Lost Realm leaves a bit of a sour taste, thinking of what it could have been. Just a little extra effort in the combat system and more freedom in platforming could have made it a great game instead of just decent. Cornfox & Brothers’ work is enjoyable if approached with the right lightheartedness and overlooking evident flaws.

Gylt is a basic game that draws from horror classics, aimed at young audiences. It ends up being a missed opportunity, stripped of survival elements and tension. Considering Tequila Works delighted us with Rime, more was expected.

Good debut for Sad Owl Studios. Viewfinder is a brilliant puzzle game but doesn't go beyond well-trodden mechanics, preventing it from reaching excellence.

When we reviewed WWE 2K19, the last game from Yuke's before today, we said it was time for the Japanese developer to hang up the ring gear, and AEW: Fight Forever has not changed our mind. After five years, more was expected from these wrestling game veterans, but unfortunately, the first official game from the federation founded by Tony Khan fails in every aspect. The idea of an arcade game structure was perfect, but it needed to be executed well, and not with such superficiality that makes the gameplay so clunky. The technical part is at least two generations behind (in 2023, limiting matches to a maximum of four wrestlers is unacceptable), and content-wise it is poor and not up to date with AEW's frequent innovations.

Aliens: Dark Descent is a real-time strategy game as ruthless as the xenomorphs (perhaps even too ruthless) that manages to recreate the horror atmosphere that fans of the film saga will know very well. A recommended game for both Alien fans and real-time strategy enthusiasts, provided they can overlook some flaws that prevent Tindalos Interactive's work from excelling as it should have.

Tchia is a prime example of a game that shines by keeping things simple and not adding too many elements to please a wide audience. Without the tedious combat sequences, the rating would have been much higher. Focusing on the adventurous part, Tchia is a love letter to New Caledonia, capable of moving players and inspiring a future visit to this fascinating place.

Abandoning the procedural generation of its predecessor, Road 96: Mile 0 is a narrative adventure like many others, lacking personality and with a constrained narrative due to its prequel nature. The addition of running game sequences adds little to the overall experience, arriving exhausted by the end. DigixArt's project seems more like an attempt to follow the success of the original Road 96 rather than a genuine effort to expand its interesting narrative universe.

Considering the difficult working conditions at Frogwares, the release of Sherlock Holmes The Awakened can be seen as a minor miracle. As expected, it doesn't revolutionize the character's video game saga, but it does its job without excelling or failing. The development team wisely removed what didn't work in Chapter One, focusing on what the series has always done well: investigation (despite some flaws) and narrative.

For a game released so many years after its predecessor, much more was expected from Blood Bowl 3. Instead, we found ourselves with a sort of early access. Updating the game rules isn't enough to recommend purchasing the game. We suggest waiting to see how the gaming experience evolves and if the team resolves various issues, from content offerings to the aggressive monetization system. If you can't do without American football and blood or are curious about this type of game, we suggest Blood Bowl 2, which not only costs less but offers a much more complete experience with its Legendary Edition.

Atomic Heart is an excellent debut title for Mundfish. What prevents the game from reaching excellence is the studio's excessive ambition to create a larger game than necessary, adding a somewhat useless open world instead of focusing exclusively on the indoor parts that best express the level design quality. Nonetheless, Atomic Heart has shown its potential and puts the Cypriot studio under a huge magnifying glass, making us curious to see their future projects. It's safe to say, a strong start!

FIFA 23 marks the best possible end to the nearly three-decade partnership between EA Sports and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association. It could have been more daring, especially in modes, but this feels like an optimization chapter rather than an innovation one. For real novelties, we'll probably have to wait for EA Sports FC's debut next year. In the meantime, FIFA 23 delivers more realistic gameplay while still emphasizing the sport's spectacle.

Gotham Knights is yet another confirmation this generation that making a bigger game doesn't always mean making a better one. WB Games Montreal collapses under its ambition. It's a shame, as there was a good foundation to build on, but technical and gameplay issues result in a product overly repetitive in missions and far from the refinement of Batman's last console adventure in the distant 2015 with Arkham Knight.

Destroy All Humans 2 – Reprobed does exactly what you'd expect from a remake of this kind: taking the original material and modernizing it for today's audience, who, for age reasons, couldn't experience the PS2 era saga, which we can now call a small cult classic. This return of Crypto-138, with added side missions, also offers something for old fans. Destroy All Humans 2 – Reprobed is recommended for a wide range of audiences: younger players seeking old-school fun and longtime fans enjoying destroying humanity again.

Despite some flaws and a lack of technical depth, Reply Game Studios' work has shown character and a clear identity, thanks to a fascinating world and well-developed protagonists. In a time flooded with souls-like games and an absolute scarcity of action hack 'n' slash, Soulstice is a blessing for genre fans who will find hours of enjoyable entertainment in this Italian-developed game.
