Super Mario Maker is a thoroughly self defeating product in every sense of the word, and as it exists, it simply should not have been pushed out to the market.

4 / 10.0 - Star Fox Zero
May 3, 2016

The only case Star Fox Zero convincingly makes is one for maybe permanently retiring the franchise.

Rife with mistakes that should be unacceptable, and squandering all of its potential, Codename STEAM is a game that you should avoid unless you are really desperately looking for a strategy game on your 3DS, and have already completed Shadow War and Fire Emblem Awakening.

Fans of the original will still enjoy this outing, albeit probably not quite as much. Everyone else is best advised to stay away.

For a Contra fan, this game is the antithesis of what Contra is supposed to be. Playing Rogue Corps, I at last understood what Metal Gear fans must have felt when they played Metal Gear Survive last year.

There's a certain "so bad it's good" charm to Metal Wolf Chaos XD, but unless that's explicitly what you set out to find, there's not much for you here.

If you're a One Piece fan and you want to relive the story, this game's as good an excuse as any; however, One Piece Romance Dawn is not recommended for just about anyone else.

There are much, much better games, and even much better similar games, on the PS4. Get those unless you really are a major fan of this genre.

While this is unlikely to be a game that anyone beyond existing Gundam fans enjoy, those who do get into it will find a compelling gameplay loop with dozens of hours of content; unfortunately, that loop and content is wrapped up in outdated visuals and terrible onboarding for newcomers.

It's worth playing for fans of the genre, and it hints at the developers having a lot more talent than this game ultimately lets on. However, Bleak Faith: Forsaken does have a lot of caveats for it to be universally recommended to everyone.

It's not great, and there are better games of this ilk for players to try out, but if you're enough of a fan of Dragon Ball, you might find just enough to enjoy here that makes it worth the cost of admission.

It still remains fun on some level, because Super Mario Bros. is fun, and battle royale games are fun. But some poorly thought out decisions lead to this hobbled from reaching the potential that a Mario battle royale game might otherwise be able to achieve.

Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight are not bad games, and there's just enough here to make them an alluring proposition for many fans. However, that Atlus only does the bare minimum with a pitch as compelling as “Persona rhythm game” continues to be a source of eternal disappointment.

Households with younger kids and 3DS systems will definitely like what Nintendo did with Kirby Battle Royale but for everyone else there are better options out there.

6 / 10.0 - WWE 2K17
Oct 19, 2016

The core gameplay loop is fine, and there's some enjoyment to be had with this game's more measured take on wrestling, but... even for what it is, WWE 2K17 is ultimately a disappointing game that falls short.

Play Federation Force if you must, and you may even enjoy it- just know that while it's not too bad, it's not too good, either. And for a game carrying the Metroid label, that, perhaps more than anything else, is the worst crime that this game commits.

At a lower price, it would have been a good game worthy of recommendation, but at this price, stay away- there's better things on the Wii U eShop that deserve your attention anyway.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a definite misstep for the Kirby series, and for Nintendo. Unless you have some young kids in your household, steer clear of this one.
