Zoe Hawkins's Reviews
Like all board games, Gremlins Inc is designed to be played with friends. If you're going to play this on your own, it's hard to recommend, but if you want to destroy your friendships by cheating over everyone on your path to victory, this might be a digital board game that's worth your while.
Offworld Trading Company is an enjoyable strategy game for those averse to combat, allowing players to become ruthless capitalists taking over Mars. While it has many excellent elements, it's simply lacking that unique spark that would make it a truly stellar game with hours of replay value.
Even if Just Dance 2017 isn't the greatest game, it's still a whole lot of fun. If you have previous iterations, I'm not sure the new modes or songs are a reason to upgrade, but if you don't have a home dance game, this is well worth picking up for kids or partying adults.
While it's great to have a climactic final battle with Sauron, the rest of the game feels like a watered down version of the original. Add to that some weak storytelling and lack of character development and it ends up feeling like an ill conceived DLC prequel.
When the game works, it is fantastic. Unfortunately, the rest of it feels average and frustratingly built to make players fail. While obsessive collectors might see replay value in New Game+, the story and gameplay simply aren't compelling enough to warrant more than the original 20 hours for completion.
A cool concept with plenty of opportunities for fun, Grow Up! is well-priced for 4-6 hours of fun. Unfortunately, a wonky camera and small irritations with controls detract from the experience, diminishing my interest in hunting for every last collectible or achievement.
Difficulty spikes, lingering wait times and a weak story filled with flat characters prevents Code Name S.T.E.A.M. from realizing its potential. While still fun and rewarding at times, it just doesn't capture the imagination or hold my attention for long.
Despite solving the issues of frequent crashes at launch, Electioneering can't fix the issue that it just doesn't add enough value for money. A fun DLC, but only adds a small amount of new gameplay that might not keep new or old fans entertained for long.
Boring on your own and offering nothing particularly memorable for gameplay, but if you're looking for a fun game for couch co-op that can be completed in an afternoon, this is an easy purchase.
While CounterSpy is an excellent game in theory, it simply falls short. Featuring some cool ideas, it is a rather quick indie stealth game that doesn't live up to expectations.
Filled with ambition and a unique perspective, Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan could have been an excellent game, telling uniquely African stories. It is brought down by poor pacing, repetitive and tedious battles and an unfortunate lack of polish.
A tennis game that lacks motion controls, signature Mario silliness or even the effort for unique cut scenes, the only thing Mario Tennis Ultra Smash has going for it is that it's functional and vaguely entertaining for short periods of time.
Despite some excellent moments, Risen 3 reaches too far and falls short. Glitchy and clunky design will undermine even the most ardent RPG fans hopes of enjoying this game. You're better off waiting for the games you actually want to play.
If you are looking for a fun game featuring tank combat and maybe some entertaining abilities, this is not that game. Look elsewhere.
