Moonlighter 2 knows exactly what it wants to be: an honest, simple story and a satisfying gameplay loop. It has some technical problems, but nothing that really hurts the experience.

Unscored - The Survivalists
Dec 9, 2020

The Survivalists doesn't reinvent survival roguelikes, but it uses the genre's conventions efficiently, with clever monkey helpers, responsive controls and no frame drops even with four players.

Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen offers dozens of hours of rich character work over a 30-hour journey, like reading a book with moments of combat. A great experience even for a first-time visual novel player.

Unscored - Resident Evil 3
Apr 8, 2020

Resident Evil 3 feels like a patchwork, and it's hard to take Nemesis seriously when a shop door stops him. Jill is its greatest redeemer. I liked it a lot, but wait for a good sale.

Unscored - My Friend Pedro
Apr 3, 2020

My Friend Pedro has good ideas like split aiming and ricochet tricks, but it takes the Devolver style without pushing it further and stumbles on pacing and ammo balance. A good game to grab on sale, but don't expect too much.

Even hardcore Final Fantasy fans will struggle to connect with its iconic characters as chibi figures, and the twin leads wear thin within minutes. Technically it's fine, and that's about it.

10 / 10.0 - Tetris Effect
Nov 9, 2018

The greatest strenght in Tetris Effect is that it doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it uses all powers available to reinforce the game's effect on the mind

My honest advice? Wait a bit longer. If you played the base game and want more, go for it, but newcomers should see how Bungie keeps it going, since in a long-running game like Destiny what really matters is continuous support.

What if Zelda: A Link to the Past were a roguelike? Its hand-drawn look stands out, and despite problems with the roguelike structure, like grindy early dungeons and messy map levels, The Swords of Ditto is a great experience.

The game the web-slinger has deserved since 2004: a concise, fun and well-structured story that takes bold liberties. Every minute swinging through the city makes you more certain buying it was one of your best decisions this year.

Unscored - Ruiner
Sep 3, 2018

Worth buying? Yes, if suffering and raging at a game over screen is your favorite pastime. Ruiner has a vivid soundtrack by Susumu Hirasawa, great visuals and now a beautiful New Game+.

Unscored - Vampyr
Jun 4, 2018

Vampyr is a sensational game and finally a vampire adventure worth the name, but constant crashes are a structural problem. My advice right now: wait a week for the fixes.

Well, what a pleasant surprise! It's oldschool with a new coat of paint. If you ever imagined what happened into the head of those nerds gathered around notebooks, pencils and dices, this is the perfect example.

Despite narrative slips, Assassin's Creed Origins entertains surprisingly well: an engaging if predictable story and combat that evolved sensationally. A very good game with incredible potential for the series' comeback.

Unscored - Romancing SaGa 2
Jan 10, 2018

Romancing SaGa 2's remaster tells the story of the Seven Heroes with something fishy behind them, developing quickly from the start, with neat touches like its encounter and formation systems for an old game.

If you're looking for a laid-back game with high levels of perversion, you've found it. Peach Beach Splash knows its audience and delivers a unique experience for those new to this territory.

Shiness tries to create a new style of RPG, with a simple story helped by quality narration. But its imprecise puzzle controls and "innovative" one-on-one combat will give you some headaches along the way.

Styx: Shards of Darkness is an interesting game, but its stealth mechanics aren't well implemented and it feels like an aged PS2 game. It has enough errors to stand out for them rather than for its qualities.

6.3 / 10.0 - Rain World
Mar 27, 2017

Rain World could be fun with sharper mechanics, but it becomes a festival of pointless deaths. Difficulty with precise mechanics is one thing; mechanics that clearly need polish, with the controls as another enemy, are hard to accept.

Ghost Recon Wildlands tries to blend third-person, first-person and sandbox shooting into something new, with a beautiful look and near-flawless co-op servers, but much of its realism has no real effect on gameplay.
