10 / 10 - Forza Horizon 5
Nov 4, 2021

Forza Horizon 5 is a masterclass example of how to do an open-world racing game, bar none. Thanks to its deeply rich map, wealth of content, and fantastic visuals, it's the best racing experience I've had yet.

Ultimately, Tadpole Treble Encore is absolutely worth the pick-up, whether this is your first rodeo in Thunder Creek or you're deciding to visit the likes of the totally-not-Frank Sinatra male tadpole in Midnight Bayou for the 50th time (because that song is just awesome).

There really isn't much of anything for me to complain about when it comes to Futuridium. It's a simple, but fun arcade style shooter that draws you in with its addictive gameplay and awesome presentation. With a price-tag of only $10, MixedBag Srl's colorful shooter is easily one of the most original and enjoyable games out on the Wii U eShop right now.

It's been 20 years since the Pokémon series was first introduced. For the past two decades, fans all over the world have spent hours upon hours battling and trading Pokémon of all sorts, getting lost in this fictional, yet amazing world. While features and mechanics gradually evolved as the series progressed, the core formula has remained intact throughout all of the main entries. As a result, veterans of the series have continued to enjoy each new entry just as much as the newcomers. With that said, get ready to experience a whole new world with a brand new attitude, because Pokkén Tournament is truly like no other Pokémon game.

Overall, Pocket Card Jockey is a surprisingly fun title that is definitely worth picking up if you’re a fan of either solitaire or horse races. Even if you’re a fan of neither, the addictive nature of the game is quite similar to that of other titles like Candy Crush or Color Switch, for example. While it’s definitely a departure from GameFreak’s regular style, the development team still managed to do a good job at putting the game together. With a price tag of only a measly $7, Pocket Card Jockey is an excellent eShop title to have on the go!

9 / 10.0 - Tadpole Treble

Tadpole Treble isn’t the most complex eShop game, but it deserves to be one of the most popular. Hats off to BitFinity.

There are a lot of puzzle games out there, so it’s usually difficult to create a new one that stands out. However,  from time to time something special always seems to crop up out of seemingly nowhere; a game that goes above and beyond to really set itself a part from the others. That’s pretty much the best way to describe Kick & Fennick.

9 / 10.0 - BOXBOXBOY!
Jul 27, 2016

Nintendo has a lot of popular franchises that have been staples in the industry for decades now. Many gamers like to belittle the company for its constant use of these characters, insisting that it doesn’t make anything else. False! Nintendo has created a variety of different games in the past few years, and now with the benefit of the eShop, it is even easier to create smaller titles. And that’s exactly why we have BOXBOXBOY! Being the sequel to last year’s BOXBOY!, BOXBOXBOY! puts you back in control of Qbby, the boxy-bod hero, who now has the ability to  duplicate his body into two sets of boxes in order to solve the various challenging puzzles.

If you're a super-serious racing fan, then Horizon Chase Tubro might come off as being a bit too simplistic. But, I think it strikes a good balance between having a fun arcade feel with some challenging aspects also being present in order to keep you coming back again and again. As stated, I find the Switch version to be the best suited for the task. Thus, I'd arguably consider it to be the definitive version of the game just for the sake of being able to play it at any time.

OlliOlli: Switch Stance keeps the difficult yet satisfying gameplay of this indie hit intact as it makes its way to Nintendo’s newest console. As long as you’re prepared for a challenge, this is a pretty fun title.

9 / 10.0 - Good Job!
Apr 19, 2020

Good Job! does a great job at being a whimsical little experience that's bound to keep you hooked with cathartic destruction, intuitive design, and soothing presentation.

Granted, many of the included games in Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics can be found as standalone apps on mobile devices (and even on Switch). However, none come to mind that have the same level of polish that this has. Clubhouse Games uses the Switch hardware in creative and technical ways, and Nintendo's signature quirky charm oozes all around here and makes for a fun collection that provides basically endless amounts of entertainment.

9 / 10.0 - Pure Pool
Nov 21, 2020

Overall, Pure Pool is a relaxing, challenging little sports title that'll drag you in even if you're not a heavy pool player. It's perfectly accessible to anyone who's new to the sport, but also challenging enough for more advanced players to also be kept engaged as they strike their way through each match. At only $15, it's worth the pickup.

9 / 10.0 - Traffix
Jan 3, 2021

What really impressed me about Traffix is that all of this madness is wrapped up in a super clean, minimalist aesthetic that has sharp lines, bright colors, and funky "elevator" music. This overall calming theme contrasts with the infuriating gameplay, but it works so well. Failing a level for the 40th time isn't exactly fun, but it was hard for me not to keep restarting and trying again. This is a pleasant little strategy game that's bound to keep you hooked for a good while. Perhaps if you find yourself stuck in traffic again (as a passenger), you can whip this out and take control of the situation.

Forza Horizon 4 takes everything great about its predecessor and turns it up to 11. With its fantastically fun gameplay, gorgeous presentation and wealth of content, this is easily the best arcade racer on the market.
