Blue Reflection doesn't offer much as an RPG but it does carry a certain charm. The gameplay loop can get repetitive while the customization and combat system are fairly simple. The art style might make it feel like a typical slice of life anime but the game attempts to target the magical girl genre with its gameplay.
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite lacks on the story front with a short campaign full of fan service moments, but it does provide a deep and satisfying gameplay. The lack of 3 vs. 3 battles is somewhat forgiven in the light of the more focused battles and the Infinity Gems add an interesting layer of strategy to the overall combat system.
Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony continues the series tradition of a great story with a memorable cast of characters. The plot twists this time are the craziest yet and the game never takes a moment to slow down after a relatively slow paced start.
There is not a lot of new features to be excited about in Sine Mora EX but it does provide a solid side-scrolling shooter. The addition of co-op versus modes are a nice bonus to have and make it easier to recommend the Switch version.
Rayman Legends Definitive Edition proves to be one of the best co-op experience on the Nintendo Switch. Its only negative aspect is the price otherwise it is a fantastic game to play for multiplayer that utilizes the unique control scheme of the Nintendo Switch hardware.
Ys VIII marks the return of Adol Christin back to the big screen. The story might be lackluster in the game but the actual writing effort is solid with some great character moments in the main campaign. The combat is easily the best the series has to offer so far.
Resident Evil Revelations is a fairly basic port for the PS4 and Xbox One. The addition of 60 FPS to the re-release of the game is nice and makes the gameplay experience smoother, but the visuals are dated by now and the presentation still suffers from the handheld origins.
Despite being one of the most crazy collaboration so far from Nintendo, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle ends up being a highly competent strategy RPG with an addictive combat and progression system.
The Escapists 2 is a relatively safe sequel expanding on the mechanics of prison escape from the first game, while still retaining its difficulty curve.
The story is addictive and keeps you at the edge of the seat. The general exploration and content is a step back from Yakuza 0 but the game is still a blast to play if you interested in more Yakuza games.
Sonia Mania is a refreshing attempt to bring the spotlight back on 2D Sonic games. It easily rivals the original Sonic trilogy in term of the level design and boss fights.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is an extremely well written game with a great story lore and challenging combat system. The only thing that it lacks is a good puzzle design otherwise Hellblade offers an experience that should easily rival a big blockbuster game.
There is a certain charm in attempting stealth in Shadow Tactics and with its focus on tactical aspects of combat, the story unforuately takes a backseat to the gameplay.
Cave Story+ is arguably one of the best metroidvania game and despite having released years ago, it still holds up very well even today.
Bulb Boy manages to surprise and even terrify with its gorgeous visual style that presents a world full of horror and terrible creatures.
It is rare to see co-op games these days especially one which also fully integrates puzzle aspects into the mix, thankfully Death Squared is aiming to be one of these, and it feels fresh and innovative in the current gaming landscape.
The Zodiac Age basically takes many of the issues with the original Final Fantasy XII and presents a polished perfect version of them. It is also the first time we can play the International Zodiac Job System version of Final Fantasy XII.
Tokyo Xandu is an attempt from Nihom Falcom to tackle the Persona series. It is a solid RPG on its own although it is hard to draw comparison to the genre it targets here, but it has more than enough unique features to make it stand out on its own.
God Wars Future Past attempts to bring some interesting exposition to the Japanese folk stories while proving a fairly robust combat system with some great customization options.
Cars 3: Driven To Win is a surprisingly fun game with its simple but tight controls that makes the driving fun. It offers multiple type of gameplay modes including a battle mode. The game also support co-op making it an ideal choice for both kids and adults.
