ROCKETSROCKETSROCKETS is exactly what its title says: a game about rockets, specifically about battles with rockets. This effort is fun to an extent when played on multiplayer but the solo experience does not have much to offer when it comes to memorable gameplay - its shallowness and repetitive nature quickly becomes too visible and the game ends up being a rather sub-par work.

5 / 10 - Devil's Third
Aug 25, 2015

Devil's Third could very well be an outstanding piece in the third-person shooter genre but its overwhelming flaws and lacklustre campaign mode plague it with unacceptable impediments. Nonetheless, its multiplayer mode has potential for fun and intense sessions.

Drawing inspiration from Micro Machines, it is possible to find some basic foundations for a good time, but its lack of fluidity and the overall mediocre speed factor fail to throw the player into the action.

he presentation does a marvelous job at transporting the players to the novel's settings, and at certain moments the game can feel more like a visual novel rather than a puzzle-adventure game. Some of the elements could use an improvement when it comes to adapting the game to a home console format, though, and sometimes the gameplay interruptions become too frequent.

6 / 10 - Beyond Blue
Jan 26, 2022

Based on diving and following different marine species and with a strong educational and contemplative component, Beyond Blue also provides a plot that lets players discover more about its lead character. Beyond Blue's simple gameplay and concept also ends up becoming its main shortcoming, as there could have been a lot more to this, especially regarding the exploration of the submarine world, and the game's graphics that fall behind the threshold of what is required for such an experience.

6 / 10 - RiMS Racing
Sep 20, 2021

This isn't just about choosing bikes and winning races, but about managing a plethora of parameters and variables with regards to the mechanical aspects of the motorbike in a way that is certain to catch the hearts of motorcycling fans, while also pushing away those looking for something simpler. The only downside to this Nintendo Switch version is its visibly dated looks, which stand out in a negative way.

The game does that well, and the very demanding difficulty level is a living evidence - perhaps too much, as its many frustrating moments attest. The Skylia Prophecy doesn't quite succeed at creating an original experience, however. It remains very close to its inspirations and doesn't do anything that hasn't been done before.

6 / 10 - SIMULACRA
Dec 28, 2019

SIMULACRA on the Nintendo Switch is an FMV adenture based on a story of mystery and horror and if the gameplay experience is not among the most outstanding ever designed, there is definitely something engaging about finding hints and advancing along the plot. The game's different endings add an additional incentive to explore and even though SIMULACRA is no masterpiece, its players will feel involved enough to take the experience to the end.

Super Street: Racer puts the player in control of an old piece of junk with wheels with the goal of improving it and make it a fast and able racing car. The gameplay experience is eminently arcade-based and features plenty of customization options but while there's no online component and the audiovisual environment is not jaw-dropping, there's still enough reasons for arcade racing fans to enjoy Super Street: Racer.

6 / 10 - WRC 8
Dec 7, 2019

If the career mode is an example of how to do an in-depth competition and its gameplay is challenging and fits perfectly with what is expected of rally simulators, the was the game was converted leaves a lot of gaps to fill. Its low quality performance when running on the Switch screen is the most difficult to handle, while the lack of multiplayer is simply unacceptable and the player's interface is confusing. This version of WRC 8 will attend to purists who can look beyond the flaws but others will be rather put off.

Stranded Sails: Explorers of the Cursed Islands is an interesting adventure RPG with plenty of mechanics that involve resource-gathering, cooking and exploration and which features a world with a soul of its own. Where Stranded Sails disappoints is in what regards its rather shallow combat and repetitiveness of some objectives, as well as the technical bugs that affect the experience. A work that's aimed at those who are very much into gathering and production of resources.

Away: Journey to the Unexpected on the Nintendo Switch features some good ideas when it comes to the bonding system between characters and boasts an appealing visual environment. However, on the depth and overall quality of the experience this feels like a game that doesn't live up to its potential. With a gameplay that is rather shallow and a disappointing plot, Away: Journey to the Unexpected falls short of what it could have been.

The Shapeshifting Detective is another example in the return of games based on the use of Full Motion Video and one which boasts a very good quality in that medium. The environment of mystery and suspense and the ability of the protagonist to assume the shape of any character stand out as the game's best qualities at the same time that a certain lack of interactivity and a plot with pacing issues keep this work from becoming a must buy.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered is an adaptation that has its ups and downs. If the overall gameplay mechanics are good and enjoyable and the combat feels right to the player, the game also has several elements that need improvement, such as its hit detection system and framerate. While the overall experience is positive, the game needs polishing to be up to the series' name.

Jack N' Jill DX fits in one of the simplest categories of contemporary games, that of platform runners. As such, the game is very accessible and requires only one input possible, jumping at the right moments, a job which Jack N' Jill DX doesn't always get right and some inconsistencies regarding the control input can make for some frustrating moments during gameplay but overall, this is a welcoming, fun and unpretentious game. Pity for its occasional control flaws and unpleasant soundtrack.

6 / 10 - Cycle 28
Nov 17, 2018

Cycle 28 is a space-themed shoot'em up that features a very minimalistic approach and whose simplicity is both to be praised and to criticize. With its solid, competent gameplay and a well thought plot structure, Cycle 28 certainly has good arguments going for it, while its minimalism can feel too minimal and ends up making the game too repetitive too quickly.

6 / 10 - Go Vacation

With a visual outlook that looks clearly dated, Go Vacation further adds to the feeling that its main goal is quantity, not quality, and the game aims to achieve this despite its own exploration options.

Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded lands on the Nintendo Switch with a formula that joins a dungeon crawler to a roguelike and the result is quite enjoyable for the fans of the Touhou series, though less so for newcomers. The exploration is challenging, with an immense amount of weapons and objects to find but the combats feel repetitive, the procedurally-generated dungeons can be too difficult and the plot is not as involving as it should be. The dedicated and patient ones will be rewarded, less versed players will be put off.

6 / 10 - Next Up Hero
Dec 25, 2018

Next Up Hero is a very demanding, tough and unforgiving game based on dungeon crawling that joins the growing catalogue of the Nintendo Switch. Thanks to its colourful and cartoonish art style, the game invites the player to a very difficult adventure which is not without its problems and technical issues, but which will fit right with those who appreciate this kind of challenge.

Lost in Harmony is an interesting rhythm game with a fine soundtrack and a compelling plot, which along with a decent gameplay make this an option in mind for fans of music games. The experience would be significantly better if the game was not so clearly based on its mobile version and the price was more in line with that of its original incarnation.
