Epic Dumpster Bear is competent at providing a hilarious, long-lasting and varied platforming experience that doesn't take itself too seriously. Beyond that, it's a rather standard game that doesn't rely on anything else, certainly not on its simple visual and audio atmosphere. While players looking for a funny platformer will be entertained, those who crave a more in depth and technically gratifying experience will look elsewhere.

Funk of Titans brings forth a very simple control system and some elements which if explored better, could make a more interesting experience. Unfortunately, the overall impression is that its mechanics are far too repetitive and its level design is flawed, which alongside an irregular frame rate contribute to make this a frustrating and unappealing work.

If its simplicity is more than welcome when it comes to pic up and play, it risks making the game way too repetitive after a short amount of time, whether on solo or multiplayer, and that makes it feel like this gae could be more compelling and involving than it actually is.

The JRPG style is not going through its finest hour and it’s not Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars that will lift it upwards. While the battle system is very well implemented and the breeding function is a welcome detail, nearly everything else is missing: an involving narrative, a captivating exploration, charismatic characters and appealing graphics are all absent from this lacklustre and overall tedious production.

5 / 10 - Poncho
Oct 31, 2016

Poncho lives much more off its puzzles and mental reasoning demands than of platforming action - not to mention it features unlimited lives - and any potential for a fluid action game is lost in this.

5 / 10 - Putty Squad
Jun 1, 2014

As a remake of a game that did not leave its mark, Putty Squad does not stand out. Its glitches and flaws, which include a serious lack of fluidity in some areas, make it a less-than-enjoyable platformer, which should only be considered by those who truly wish to try every title in the genre.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a Metroidvania title that features many of the ideas that could make one of the finest games in this genre, with its challenging structure and gameplay mechanics. Where Ritual of the Night falls short is mostly on its technical performance, with long loading times, inconsistencies and formatting problems and some incomprehensible framerate drops. This game might be a fan service effort but it still needs to have its flaws addressed.

GIGA WRECKER Alt. is a fun and enjoyable metroidvania type of game that features a good amount of action, exploration and platforming, as well as decent level of puzzle challenges. It doesn't go all the way to become an instant classic and it's difficult for the game to rise above its peers but it does a competent job at providing a good experience.

My Time at Portia is a simulation game that shows a commendable level of ambition and an immense world to explore and develop, with plenty of actions to perform all over. It does not fully live up to its potential, though, as it requires some technical optimization in order to fit better with the Nintendo Switch and its long loading times can put a strain on the player's patience.

Just Dance 2019 doesn't stray away from the formula that made this the number one name in dancing games - and why should it, when it has demonstrated more than enough times that the Just Dance series can gather people around the idea of dancing? New gaming modes would certainly be welcome and while the growing musical catalogue is a big plus, the game feels like the same formula repeated every year. Not that this will bother newcomers and those looking for a fun moment, though.

6 / 10 - MagiCat
Jan 3, 2019

A platformer with a good level of challenge an lifespan and a visually attractive environment, MagiCat has plenty of competition and ends up not standing above its peers due to a feeling of repetitiveness and a gameplay that sometimes can feel out of place but the game is competent enough to be appealing to fans of platform games.

Ninjin: Clash of Carrots is an enjoyable and fast-paced beat'em-up that brings to the Nintendo Switch some of the aspects that made this genre extremely popular in previous decade. It does not go all the way through, as Ninjin can become very repetitive and without the same charm of the genre's classics.

Kentucky Robo Chicken started its life on mobile devices and now lands on the Nintendo Switch bringing what is expected of a game with its origins: simple fun for quick gaming sessions. While its lifespan is rather short, though a longer adventure is hardly in the cards for a game of this kind, Kentucky Robo Chicken is easy to learn and presents a fair challenge that will keep players amused for some time.

Graveyard Keeper is a cemetery management simulation game and naturally, this is enough for it to stand out on its own. Adding to that a very interesting visual environment and a complex gameplay and a segment of the market will find reasons to be happy about. Those who are not fans of management simulations, as well as those looking for simpler experiences, won't appreciate it in the same way, as Graveyard Keeper can get too cumbersome, long and repetitive and could improve some aspects about its controls.

Shining Resonance Refrain performs well on certain elements, such as its characters, the amount of content available and the simple but competent battle system. Unfortunately the game is not that inviting to explore and the clichés all around its plot mean that it does not have a lot going for it that can set it apart from other RPGs, especially as this is a game of a previous generation being adapted to the Nintendo Switch.

Die for Valhalla! features a welcome intersection of a beat'em up with an RPG and it does a pretty decent job at that, thanks to its wide amount of content which boosts the game's lifespan and challenge levels. Nevertheless, Die for Valhalla! can't avoid becoming repetitive too soon, not because it does something wrong but rather because it lacks a certain flair to push it over the edge.

Dustoff Heli Rescue 2 has enough to provide some entertainment over its long lifespan and variety of missions and as its gameplay does not demand too much in terms of time, it's also a rather simple game. However it would definitely benefit from more individual character, rather than following Minecraft in so many ways and its control system can cause some problems to the players.

6 / 10 - Pankapu
Oct 30, 2017

Pankapu has interesting elements in its favour. The game's plot and the way it is presented is certainly one of them and its well crafted visuals add to the flavour. At the same time, the level design feels too repetitive and the game doesn't really feel like it offers anything new, as Penkapu's good story telling and visuals end up outshining almost everything else about the game.

6 / 10 - Beat Cop
Jun 11, 2019

Beat Cop delivers the experience of a 1980s-style police action movie, with heavy doses of irony and unreal comedy added on top of it. The result is a game that is fun and a marvel to look at, even if some of its elements can get confusing and repetitive at times.

Queen's Garden does not break any grounds on what has already been made by tactile puzzle games but its competent mechanics and decent audiovisual component help creating an entertaining, if not very ambitious title.
