Might Gunvolt Burst builds on its predecessor and easily overcomes it, thanks to its use of creative and fun gameplay mechanics, a rich visual environment and an overall quality production that will certainly appeal to fans of retro-looking action games.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is a remake that helps bringing the series back to its roots and it works very well at that. Thanks to successful gameplay innovations, captivating plot and cast and a magnificent audiovisual component, this is certainly a game that will be very appreciated by a wide amount of fans. It doesn't fully live up to its potential but Shadows of Valentia acts as a promising new direction for the Fire Emblem series.

The title might not suggest it in an obvious way but Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D is an immensely fun and long-lasting experience that doesn't get dull and that rewards its players with more and more content while rich and beautiful backgrounds keep their eyes entertained. 7 / 10 - Brave Dungeon
Apr 19, 2017

Brave Dungeon is a simple but fun RPG that may not be the most ambitious effort ever made but it certainly allows for fun sessions. Featuring plenty of content, including after the game's main quest is finished and quality animations, Brave Dungeon's rather unvaried dungeons don't pose much of an obstacle in making this a good option for RPG fans.

Mario Sports Superstars means well but ultimately fails in delivering a title that is on par with previous sports games of the Mario universe. While the rich visual environment will keep the eyes fairly satisfied, most of the sports included feel empty and fall behind the threshold of fun, thus not justifying a long term investment in the overall game.

Ghost Blade HD is a game that may be out of its original time but still provides a fun-packed and fluid 2D shooting experience, just like so many others did in decades past. Despite its lacklustre sound environment and rather short lifespan, it's a well-crafted introduction to the genre for many players who never had any contact with 2D shooters and can bring back some good memories for more experienced players.

Mercenaries Saga 3 may not be the most ambitious game ever made but fans of SRPGs will find plenty to be satisfied about thanks to the game's use of strategy in combat and good long-term appeal. Some unique gameplay elements also help it in standing apart from other games of the genre and other than a plot that could be more elaborate, Mercenaries Saga 3 is a competent follow-up to the series that will offer plenty of value to those who put their hands on it.

Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of The Curse King reaches the 3DS after several versions in other formats and this is most likely the best version of the game so far. Showing the best of what can be done in RPGs, Dragon Quest VIII is already a strong candidate to the title of game of the year on the 3DS and there's virtually no aspect in which this title does not excel. A true masterpiece, that can be enjoyed by RPG fans and non-fans alike.

Corpse Party is full of details that will either delight or appall the players, depending on their tastes but it will certainly not go unnoticed with its high quality audiovisual environment and capacity to plunge the players in its universe. While it pushes too far its conditions to reach the game's best ending and can become predictable at certain moments, Corpse Party is a welcome and necessary addition to the 3DS catalogue as far as horror games are concerned.

Twisted Fusion is a game that demonstrates some potentially good ideas to be explored, such as its character development and competent gameplay concepts. Unfortunately all good ideas in the world can be overwhelmed by a poor execution, which is what happens in this game. Its mediocre visual environment, lack of precision in the platforming sections, uncorrected bugs and unplayable moments make this a game that only works on paper and which gives the impression that it has not been finished and fully revised before release.

3 / 10 - ASH
Dec 9, 2016

ASH tries hard to pay tribute to turn-based RPGs of the 1980s and 1990s...so hard that it doesn't realize that genres evolve for a reason. This game is mostly stuck on a sea of obsolescence and not even its well-written dialogues can add a different flair to a production that does poorly in nearly every other aspect.

7 / 10 - Gear Gauntlet
Nov 26, 2016

With a wealth of levels and plenty of incentives to get back to it, Gear Gauntlet ends up becoming too tough at certain moments, driving the players to the brink of desperation in a work that will deter the less experienced but satisfy those determined enough to push ahead.

7 / 10 - Fairune2
Nov 23, 2016

Fairune 2 is a sequel that follows its predecessor on all the right tracks, keeping what made the original a pleasant experiences and extending its lifespan. What works for some might not work for all, though, and for players looking for something more groundbreaking than the original this will not deliver, which does not mean that its creative combat system and rich audiovisual component will fall short of the players' expectations, because it won't.

Thanks to its visual outlook and well-built plot, this is a game that will keep players interested until the end. It displays the limits of a low-budget game, however, and some of its segments feel too linear but this title shouldn't be in trouble to gather a group of fans.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor all too well for its own sake, insofar as it's often difficult to point out any outstanding differences between the two. This is not necessarily a handicap, as the sequel is a quality action platformer that features an exquisite visual environment and fine-tuned gameplay.

Shows its limits early on, with its rather repetitive combat, a level structure that needs improvement and the mixing of different graphic styles did not come out too well, but while those not interested in the genre should look the other way, any River City fan will be more than satisfied with this reincarnation of the thirty-year-old series.

Jotun: Valhalla Edition is a marvelous effort that clearly stands out amidst the indie games pool. With its rich visual environment, very engaging boss battles, extremely demanding combats that will require full commitment from the player and recurrent replay value, this is a game that will certainly keep everyone clinging on to their Wii U GamePad for a very long time.

The Legend of Kusakari may depart from an extremely unlikely premise but it's just simple and fun enough to provide a worthy experience for several hours. While taking it beyond its purpose will make the game feel repetitive, its overall sense of humour, good control system and hectic pace will not make anyone regret its purchase.

Psycho Pigs is back and this remake certainly honours the original with its simple and very fun concept, its humour in all levels and overall loyalty to a game from nearly thirty years ago.
