While Gathering Storm still carries a lot of the issues presented by the base game, its new mechanics – especially with some in game tweaking – shakes up significantly the metagame, how to treat territorial expansion and give a new perspective on diplomacy. If you haven’t tried Civilization VI, now it’s the best time to do so.

Trials Rising boasts one of the best track selections of the entire franchise. Sadly, paired with forced online connectivity, convoluted menus and completely unnecessary lootboxes.

With simple and clear rules, Ape Out manages to remove often hidden layers about action games, and how a player understands – and adapts to specific situations – giving new insights on how practice and learning works in games. All fueled by one of the best jazzy tunes I’ve heard in a game.

Improving on its predecessor in every way — from better steering wheel support, to more interesting and challenging scenarios — Very few games can create such sense of dread and excitement as DiRT Rally 2.0. A must have for Rally fans.

Even if it tries a bit too hard with it interesting, but shallow campaign structure, Armada 2 more than makes up for it with its ambition to bring all 12 factions into a single game. It’s a dream coming true for Warhammer 40K fans.

Bursting with ideas on how to revolutionize the 4X Genre, At The Gates demise lies in its poor execution, lackluster AI and what it seems to be an endless list of bugs.

Amplitude does a fine job on establishing the Mykara as part of the Endless franchise lore, but due to their overreliance on strategic resources and combat – aspects that Endless Legend lacks depth – makes their addition a rather dull one.

While it doesn’t do a lot to change its formula – and its story could most certainly be better paced – Ace Combat 7 brings the series back to its roots.

Insurgency: Sandstorm sits between two worlds. In one hand, it tries to make more approachable to newcomers. On the other, its matchmaking system, lack of interesting and unique maps makes it a game only for the most dedicated players.

Space Race adds unecessary busywork for a game that’s already filled to the brim with it. Rivalries are lackluster and, once again, Surviving Mars lacks a proper end goal.

Call of Cthulhu lacks what makes most of Lovecraft’s stories interesting: the true descent into madness and the human fragility. It overly relies on uninteresting characters and a plot that is so “on the nose” that you can see its twists coming a mile away.

Even with the "Slayer" path being the best one, "Seeker, Slayer, Survivor" sets out what it meant to do: bring deeper tactics into Pillars of Eternity II. Another great DLC for what might be one of the best RPGs in 2018.

Space Hulk: Tactics is by far the best digital version of Game's Workshop classic, but its uninteresting campaign and the lack of asynchronous multiplayer are two of its biggest sins.

Overly linear and with a lackluster combat, Bard’s Tale IV is anything but an “old-school” RPG. Worth it if you’re deeply interested in puzzles.
